According to The Blast, 82-year-old Joan Lile has dismissed her lawsuit against Vicki and her insurance company, Coto Insurance & Financial Services.
In January 2019, Lile filed a lawsuit against Vicki accusing her of “breach of contract, fraud and deceit, negligence, unfair business practices and intentional infliction of emotional distress.”
In the lawsuit, Lile says that she and her husband Robert Lile a long-term care insurance policy in 1996. The couple planned to use the policy if one spouse passed away so that all future medical premiums for the surviving spouse would be covered.
Lile went on to accuse Vicki of fraudulently misrepresenting the insurance policy for over 2 decades. According to Lile, Vicki preyed “on the confidence and trust” of her and her husband and sold them a policy that she promised included a special “Lifetime Waiver of All Premiums for a Surviving Spouse” provision.
“This SWOP benefit was of utmost importance to the Liles because Robert Lile was significantly older than Joan Lile and wanted, above all else, to know that his wife would be protected financially upon his passing.”
However, when Robert passed away in 2017 and Joan tried to use the SWOP benefit her claim was denied despite her still being charged premiums.
At the time of the filing, Vicki’s lawyer told The Blast, “The claims alleged against Gunvalson are completely false. Gunvalson has always acted professionally and with the utmost truthfulness and integrity in every transaction that she acted as an insurance agent for her clients. She has never engaged in any fraudulent conduct nor misrepresented any terms of any policy. She vehemently denies the false allegations made against her in the lawsuit by Mrs. Lile. The claims made against Gunvalson are completely false and lack any merit whatsoever.”
It’s unclear if Vicki settled the lawsuit as she has yet to comment.
Meanwhile, we were sent a very interesting little scoop about Vicki. Not sure where it’s from but apparently a fan ran into Vicki in the airport and she was less than kind.
When asked for a photo Vicki allegedly said, “I’m not on the show anymore and I’m embarrassed I ever was” in a rude and dismissive tone.
