Teresa and Joe Giudice‘s separation after 20 years of marriage wasn’t a shock to those closest to the Real Housewives of New Jersey couple.
Heck, it wasn’t a shock to many RHONJ fans.
And while Teresa and Joe’s split seemingly came out of nowhere, we all saw the writing on the wall for this reality TV couple no matter how much we wished it wasn’t true.
According to a new report, there was a lot of consideration that went into Teresa and Joe’s split.
The RHONJ couple kept their decision to split “very, very close to the vest,” for a long time to soften the blow to those closest to them.
“Teresa and Joe have been living separate lives. This decision is not something that came overnight, and they’ve both known this split was happening for a while,” a source close to the Giudice family tells HollywoodLife.
“They still talk all of the time, but Teresa has really struggled with what Joe put her and the family through,” adds the source.
“This decision isn’t shocking to those around either of them,” the source reveals.
As for Joe and Teresa’s four daughters Gia, 18, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 13, and Audriana, 10, the source says they are “doing as well as possible given it all.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo.
