Tinsley Mortimer Denies Rumors That Fiancé Scott Kluth ‘Forced’ Her To Leave RHONY; Calls the Rumors ‘Untrue’

Tinsley Mortimer is setting the record straight about her role on season 12 of the Real Housewives of New York.

For weeks now, rumors have been swirling that Tinsley stopped filming for season 12. These rumors came to light after Tinsley rekindled her relationship with on-again, off-again boyfriend, Scott Kluth. The rumors intensified after Tinsley and Scott’s recent engagement.

In fact, sources claim that Scott gave Tinsley an ultimatum – him or the show.

“Scott gave her an ultimatum: ‘me or the show,’ and she chose him. He loves the limelight but hated the negative effect the show had on their relationship. And Tinsley, she’s desperate to make the relationship work and was on the outs with the group as it was. It was much easier for her to walk away from the friendships she was never going to have to fight for the relationship she always wanted,” a source told PEOPLE.

Tinsley’s RHONY c0-star Luann de Lesseps fueled the rumor mill even more at one of her recent cabaret shows. Luann told the audience that Tinsley was “not filming anymore.”

Over the last few months, Tinsley has been noticeably missing from several major events for season 12, including the recent cast trip to Mexico.

Now, the RHONY star is clearing up the rumors.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Tinsley confirms that she took a small hiatus from filming season 12 but will be returning to NYC to resume filming this week.

“Scott and I have been celebrating our engagement in Chicago, where I will soon call home,” Tinsley explained. “The last few weeks have been such a wonderful whirlwind of excitement, and we both wanted to spend this special time with each other and our families.”

“As with many relationships, life does not completely stop for love, which is why I will continue to honor my work commitments in NYC while Scott focuses on CouponCabin’s busy season in Chicago,” she continued.

Meanwhile, a source close to Tinsley tells PEOPLE that, “while [Kluth] chooses not to participate on RHONY, he has been nothing but supportive with Tinsley’s career.”

“He’s an amazing, loving guy and wants nothing but her happiness,” the insider revealed.

The Real Housewives of New York will return to Bravo for season 12 in early 2020.
