Jill Zarin is opening up about everything pertaining to The Real Housewives of New York City!
The OG of the RHONY recently appeared on David Yontef and Jess Rothschild’s podcast. On the Out in the Wild podcast, that she is officially “done” with the show. Plus, she opened up about her friendship with fellow OG, Bethenny Frankel. Jill also said that she “respects” Bethenny’s ex-husband, Jason Hoppy, for not going to the press with information or selling stories.
According to Reality Blurb, Jill said, “I gotta respect him that he didn’t talk to the public. He didn’t sell a story to Radar Online or whatever.” Bethenny was in a custody battle with her ex-husband for years, and their divorce took several years, as well. Jill said, “He could have done a lot of damage and given a lot of inside information about business and their relationship, and I feel like he didn’t betray the trust.”
Jill dished on her friendship with Bethenny when they both joined Real Housewives. She shared, “[Bethenny] was a lot younger than me, in terms of our life experience. [My daughter] Allison was already 12 or 13, and she hadn’t been married yet. She’s a downtown girl and I’m an Upper East Side girl, so we never would have crossed paths. We have different interests. But we had something in common called the Housewives.”
Jill was on the series for four seasons. She’s appeared as a friend of the wives in recent seasons, however; she doesn’t plan on returning to the hit series. Her boyfriend, Gary Brody, also has connections to the RHONY. He went to high school with Carole Radziwill!
She revealed, “[My boyfriend] went to high school with [Carole Radziwill]! Everyone who ever worked on the show always said that Housewives was six degrees of Jill Zarin. Here’s a case where Gary, not only did he have a friendship with Carole Radziwill in high school… he is brothers-in-law with ‘Red Scarf.'”
As seen on the show, Red Scarf, attended a speed dating night with the castmates. Apparently ‘Red Scarf’ was once married to Gary’s sister. It’s a small world!
Jill revealed that she isn’t interested in appearing as a full-time housewife or in a friend role. She explained, “The truth is, I did it, I’m done. Bravo can’t give me [more] than I have already, except to put me at risk of offending somebody or alienating fans. I think I’m in a good place with fans. History works itself out. There was a resolution with the Jill and Bethenny story, it took years for it to happen, but it did.”
I was happy that Jill and Bethenny were able to make amends! I’m glad they are in a good place now. I like seeing Jill on the RHONY and I love the OG’s of New York City. I understand why she doesn’t want to appear again, though. I’m happy that she’s happy. The rumor is that Jill will appear next season, so I’m hoping that’s true.
The Real Housewives of New York City returns for Season 12 on Bravo TV in early 2020.
