Teresa and Joe Giudice are staying together – for now.
In a new interview, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star reveals that she didn’t make any decision about divorce while in Italy.
“It was really great to reunite with Joe and see how happy the girls were to see their dad,” Teresa tells PEOPLE. “It was all about the girls, and we just had the best time with them, and that’s it. I mean, we’re just going to take day by day and see what happens. That’s basically it.”
Teresa says the long-awaited reunion was “perfect” and filled with “joy and happiness.”
“I cried a lot,” Teresa admits of last week’s trip. “Because just seeing my daughters with him and I was just very, very emotional. At the end of the day, I just want Joe to be happy. I’m just happy that he was free.”
She continued, “I mean, where he was, it was really torturous. I mean, he did wait [to leave America] because that’s what his daughters wanted him to do, fight. And that’s I what I said to him, you can never regret it because you did fight, and now that was good that you were able to leave and still fight it from Italy. I was like, ‘You don’t want to be in there. It’s disgusting.’ Who would want to be in there?”
“So, I mean, he kept saying, ‘I wish I would have left earlier and I didn’t have to spend those seven months in there and then I could have saw the girls in the summertime.’ I’m like ‘Whatever.’ I mean because you always follow the lead of the lawyers, what they tell you to do,” she adds. “You can’t think about ‘I should have, could have,’ whatever. This is the way it was supposed to go. … His daughters could never say Daddy didn’t fight.”
As for her marriage, Teresa says, “I mean, I can’t predict the future, but as of now, it was two and a half days. It was too short to decide.”
She adds, “But our daughters are the most important thing. We’ll see what happens. I mean, he lives in Italy, I live in America. I don’t know if that’s going to work.”
Meanwhile, Teresa reveals that her four daughters will be spending Christmas in Italy with their dad.
“They’ve never spent Christmas in Italy before,” Teresa tells PEOPLE in a separate interview. “So that’ll be nice and different. And there’s a lot of family there too, so it’d be nice.”
The RHONJ OG reveals that her daughters also want to see their dad for Thanksgiving in the Bahamas.
“But Joe is getting his passport. I think he’s going to get in 10 to 12 days,” she explains. “I don’t think it’s going to be in time.”
“They’re like, forget about Thanksgiving,” she said of her daughters. “So I think they want to go out to see him for Christmas.”
So, will Teresa also be spending Christmas in Italy?
That’s unclear at the moment.
“It depends on my work schedule,” she says.
“We just had the best time. It was really nice,” Teresa adds of her recent trip to Italy. “And I’m happy I went. I needed that for myself also. It was good, you know?”
