In a strange turn of events, Joe Giudice is requesting that the court release him from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody and send him to Italy as he awaits his deportation appeal.
According to court documents filed on Tuesday, the 47-year-old “believes that his continued detention would create an extreme hardship on his family and he wishes to be released so that [he] can begin working and contributing financially to his wife and four young children.”
If his deportation appeal is overturned Joe “will urge that USICE should facilitate his return to the United States.”
This move comes after Joe’s latest legal setback. On Friday, September 20th a judge denied his request to be released on bond.
Joe’s wife and Real Housewives of New Jersey star, Teresa Giudice, spoke out about the decision the following day telling Us Weekly, “It’s a sad time with my husband and everything so we’re going to try and work it out as best we can. The most important thing is our four daughters, so I’m hoping Joe is able to stay in the United States.”
Adding that her four daughters Gia, 18, Gabriella, 14, Milania, 13, and Audriana, 10, “are going through a really difficult time right now.”
I’m so confused by this move. Doesn’t this move shut down Joe’s case entirely? I don’t know why Joe would voluntarily leave the United States since he may never be able to get back in if he loses his deportation appeal. Hopefully, the people who are advising Joe know what they are doing.
Thoughts on this latest move? Do you think Joe going to Italy is a good idea? Could this screw up Joe’s deportation appeal?
