Kim Richards has to cough over a pretty penny to her former ghostwriter!
A judge ordered the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star to fork over $5,075 to ghostwriter Alison Kingsley Baker.
This decision came after a September 4th court hearing where the judge spoke to both parties and reviewed all the evidence in the case.
“She began unraveling excuse after excuse as to why she hadn’t paid her ghostwriter despite receiving a $300,000 advance from her publisher earlier this year,” a source explained.
The insider continued, “She even mentioned having problems with her dog as to why she hadn’t paid up!”
“The judge was very patient with both sides, but swiftly rendered his verdict in favor of the plaintiff,” the insider added. “Judges love contracts, and this was a contract signed by Kim saying she would pay her once she was given money by the publisher.”
If Kim pays Baker $5000, along with $75 in fees, by October 4th the case will be dismissed. To ensure Kim pays up, a compliance hearing has been scheduled for October 4th as well.
Another insider revealed that Kim paid Baker, in full, three days after the judge’s decision.
Baker originally sued the former RHOBH star for $9,999 on July 9, 2019.
“My client refuses to pay me despite our signed contract and a job well done,” the complaint read.
Baker and Kim met thru the former reality star’s niece Nicky Hilton. Baker was a ghostwriter on Hilton’s successful fashion book 365 Style.
“She’s a mess,” a source said of Kim. “If she doesn’t follow through and produce a book for the publisher, she will be sued for that hefty advance, so stay tuned.”
