While many fans were shocked by Vicki Gunvalson’s demotion to a friend on the Real Housewives of Orange County it turns out the OG of the OC was equally as surprised.
In a new interview with Us Weekly, Vicki opens up about her demotion and how’s she’s come to accept her new role on the show.
“Absolutely it hurt from the very beginning, but as time has gone by, I understand it,” she revealed. “It’s business. I’ve been at it for 15 years, the viewers have seen a lot of my life. I think there’s a lot of life left. We’ll see how this year goes.”
As for her future on RHOC, the OG of the OC is still unsure about what role she will hold on the show for season 15 and beyond.
“I have no idea, but obviously I pissed someone off at Bravo,” she said. “I have no idea who, and no one can say what went wrong. I think they were just looking for some new blood. I love Bravo. I just want them to be proud of me, of the stories that I do.”
While Vicki claims she’s still in the dark about her demotion on RHOC, a source says otherwise.
“She’s been told several times why she has been demoted,” the source revealed. “Vicki doesn’t want to hear the truth and she only wants to hear what she wants to hear.”
Meanwhile, on the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen After Show Vicki opened up about her divorce from ex-husband Donn Gunvalson and revealed where they stand today.
“There’s no friendship, unfortunately,” Vicki confessed. “I definitely have regrets [for what] I did. I hurt him and I broke his heart but I was out of the marriage mentally. He was not prepared for me to file for divorce but it happened.”
“We’re not friends. He sees [Briana Culberson] and Troy and Owen a lot… We don’t talk at all,” Vicki continued.
When asked if she was upset over having to pay Donn a large settlement in their divorce, Vicki admits that she was initally pissed about it but then realized that she didn’t have it in her to continue fighting.
“I was the primary breadwinner and at the time, I was like, ‘Dang it, I don’t want to pay him this much,’ [but] my attorney sat me down and said, ‘You are the breadwinner, you make more than him, and he deserves it.’ And I thought, ‘You know what, I could fight in court or just fold,’” she explained.
“And so, he’s retired. I’m not,” Vicki added.
Despite their rocky marriage and tumultuous divorce, Vicki says Donn is a “great man.”
“We just got off course and couldn’t get it back on track,” she shared.
Speaking of bad relationships, Vicki admits to Us Weekly that she would like to eventually reconcile with former friend Kelly Dodd.
“I hope so. I really sincerely with all my heart wish her the very best, but she’s got to stop this. She’s got to stop hurting people,” Vicki said.
However, Vicki says right now she’s not sure if she could accept an apology from Kelly, which is what would need to happen in order for them to reconcile.
“We did that in an upcoming episode, and she turned on me again,” Vicki said. “I can’t be her punching bag. I just think she has issues. I would never trust her, but I want the best for her.”
The OG of the OC continued, “She’s saying bad words on camera, she’s saying cunt, terrible things, a mother should never say. You don’t talk that way, you don’t talk about sex with your boyfriend with your 13-year-old watching the show.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County air Tuesdays at 9 pm EST on Bravo.
Thoughts on Vicki’s comments? Do you think Vicki knows why she was demoted? Are you surprised Vicki and Donn don’t speak at all? Can Vicki and Kelly ever reconcile? Does Kelly owe Vicki an apology or is it the other way around?
