Mama Elsa Laid to Rest in Small Funeral Ceremony

The city of Miami is a little less bright as the beloved Mama Elsa of Real Housewives of Miami fame has been laid to rest.

Page Six reports that a small ceremony was held on Friday morning for the colorful and quirky reality star. As previously reported, Mama Elsa passed away at the age of 84 and the who’s who of Miami came out to pay their respects. Page Six reports that “Marysol was there surrounded by fellow ‘Housewives’ Alexia Echavarria, Lisa Hochstein and Adriana De Moura who opened the ceremony choking back tears talking about the honor of being friends with Elsa.” It was noted that her daughter Marysol delivered a tearful eulogy, adding that there was “relief that she is now resting after a long illness.”

Other well-known Miamians who paid their respects included Gloria Estefan’s publicist David Naranjo who sang “Ave Maria” and news anchor Belkys Nerey.

The source adds that humor was peppered into the otherwise emotional ceremony as “guests made comments about Elsa’s driving,” and reminisced how Mama Elsa “barreled around town in a huge Rolls Royce cursing out other drivers in French, and once ran down the awning of a cafe while parking her car, and was oblivious to it.”

The ceremony was described as emotional yet “very sweet” with Elsa was laid to rest “in a white casket with white roses.”

I loved ‘Real Housewives of Miami’ and loved Mama Elsa. I’m glad to hear that the majority of the Miami ladies came out to pay their respects as I can only imagine the pain Marysol is going through. AllAboutTRH is sending love and prayers to Marysol and her family.

Rest in peace sweet Elsa!
