Lisa Vanderpump has given James Kennedy many chances on Vanderpump Rules. She’s even fired him from SUR and then rehired him again later on. The way that he sometimes behaves has upset many of the other cast members on Pump Rules. James got a lot of heat for his comments he made to fellow female co-workers/co-stars, in particular Katie Maloney-Schwartz. There was a lot of backlash for fat shaming comments he made. Many people wonder why LVP gives James so many chances. Now she has answered once and for all!
Lisa explained on the Vanderpump Rules after show, “I think SUR represents not just a job to James, I think it represents being part of that family – and that inclusion. And I have made a lot of allowances for him. But I think that’s why he’s been let go, he does feel rejected. Maybe I’m one of the only people that really does see a lot of good in him. I really do.”
She likes the soft side of him. There are many times that James is down to earth and vulnerable, especially when he’s around his family. Lisa said, “You see him supporting his brother. You see how he’s had to deal with family dynamics.”
LVP added that he has “very good aspects of his character.”
Previously Lisa had explained to Hollywood Life, “I’m very involved in these people’s lives, and it’s very important to me, and to Evolution Media, and to Bravo, that we show the whole story. Now if I just showed James being a drunken little a**hole, that’s not the whole story. And when you see him supporting his brother through college, and you see his mother how she’s failed. You see her, how she’s sitting out here when I’m on the building site, saying, ‘You’re his mother figure.’ I’m like, ‘No, you are.'”
On season 7 of Vanderpump Rules, James’ family life with his mom, Jacqueline Georgiou, and his brothers has been a big storyline. James has been financially helping his brothers. Lisa said it makes for “fascinating television.” She explained, “There’s a lot of good in that boy, and there’s a lot of good in that young man. If we can just knock the cr*p out of his choices, he’s young, I think he’ll be OK. But drinking is his enemy, and I’ve tried to explain that to him. But one-dimensional characters, that’s not the whole story, it’s not.”
Lisa also revealed in an interview with People magazine that she didn’t know about the comments Katie made to James before he made negative remarks about her figure. Lisa said that she doesn’t get to watch scenes until it’s aired on Bravo. She said she wasn’t aware that Katie “provoked” James. Lisa said, “The audience often doesn’t realize that they’re seeing more than I ever did. The situation with Katie and James, I wasn’t aware that she provoked him first. It’s hard to make a good judgment call all the time.”
I understand what LVP is saying! I try and see the good in people, as well. I’m good at reading people and so is Lisa. I think she has a kind heart and is very generous. I’m enjoying this season of Vanderpump Rules!
