After leaving the ship due to tense working conditions and it being an overall poor fit, Caroline is revealing to Radar Online that she is technically homeless! Speaking out to Radar, Caroline explains that while it’s not as dramatic as it sounds she still is roughing it, even occasionally sleeping in her car. Caroline reveals:
“I’m not looking for a homeless shelter to stay in, but I am homeless in the sense that I am in between homes.”
“It doesn’t offend me when people say, ‘Oh my goodness, she’s homeless.’ I’m not sure where I’m going to be landing geographically. You get motels or hotels when you can, you sleep in your car if it’s warm.”
Despite being in a temporary unstable living situation, Caroline is more concerned with releasing the stigma of mental health. Caroline broke down on the ship due to the hardships of living with a mother with dementia and undergoing bullying from Chief Stew Kate Chastain and second stew Josiah. Regarding her breakdown, Caroline says:
“Words do affect people. These things need to be talked about. Getting a dialogue going is the first step towards breaking these stigmas.”
I was honestly shocked after seeing the footage of Kate and Josiah bullying Caroline on her last day by taunting her about herpes and blaring loud music. It was the epitome of bullying in my book and despite the fact that the three had their differences there was no need for it to escalate to that.
Despite undergoing harsh criticism, Caroline states being in the public eye during difficult times has a silver lining, adding that “Social media isn’t all bad. It can also be a place to find support and understanding.”
We are sending good thoughts and well wishes to Caroline!
