It’s been years since supermodel Kelly Killoren Bensimon was on The Real Housewives of New York and she has been keeping busy ever since! It’s been exactly eight years since her time on the RHONY. Kelly told Page Six, “I’m not gonna lie when I retired from ‘Housewives’ in 2011, there was a total stigma attached to being a reality star.” She turned 50 years old in May and has been working in real estate in New York City. Kelly is a real estate agent with Warburg Realty. Kelly’s resumé includes editor of Elle Accessories, Hamptons and Gotham magazines, author of multiple novels, and of course, her venture into reality TV. Kelly said, “I’ve worked with so many people in so many capacities and the biggest takeaway from that is trust. So when I branched out into other opportunities especially in the real estate market, people trust me.”
She’s been keeping busy with work, family, friends, and working out. Kelly likes Y7 yoga and SoulCycle classes. Kelly explained, “I’m just like I’m a serial entrepreneur. I’ve been really testing my hypothesis of leveraging my social media and my international fan base with real estate content, and really being a game-changer in the real estate industry …even if the fan base thought I was kooky or whatever, every single person that meets me is like, ‘I trust you.'” Kelly had the whole ‘Scary Island’ incident on the show, which led to her co-stars questioning her mental health. However; she’s glad that the RHONYC gave her a platform.
“I’ve always said it was a positive experience and I feel like there were some characters on the show who took it to a different level and we talked about it over and over again. At the end of the day, I always wish people well, just because they’re not my type doesn’t necessarily mean that I don’t wish them well,” she explained.
Kelly said that Bravo didn’t want to see that she was just living her best life. Kelly said, “I was always living my life, just Bravo didn’t want to see that. They were like, ‘We don’t want to see how you live, we just want to see how you interact with the women and make them crazy.’ I was like, ‘All right, fine.’ I wasn’t like a real character on the show, I was just the instigator. I think now is the time to really show off my superpower and let people see what makes me tick, how I’m successful [or] how I’m not.”
However; Kelly thinks that it’s “good news” that season 11 of the RHONY recently premiered. Kelly said, “It’s super exciting even when you see Bethenny Frankel have her own alcohol line and Luann de Lesseps have her own cabaret show and Ramona Singer be able to be single and out there and making her own money, that’s just all good news to see women in their second chapter of their life to be able to generate income.”
Kelly keeps in touch with Luann and she even went to her #CountessAndFriends cabaret show. She has been keeping busy and her calendar is packed. Although there are no cameras following her around anymore for filming, they could with all of the action going on in her life. She did not rule out making a return to the RHONY. Kelly just may one day return to reality TV. She recently went to the Grammys in Los Angeles and Dennis Basso’s New York Fashion Week Show the next day. Kelly gushed, “I’m like pinching myself, like is this my life?!”
I miss Kelly on the show! I’d love for her to return. I like that she’s from the Midwest like me and she made me laugh. Remember when she used to go jogging in NYC traffic? Good times! Kelly always seemed upbeat and very down-to-earth. I think the ‘Scary Island’ situation was due to being overwhelmed from filming the reality show. She just had a meltdown and needed to get out of there and go home and rest. If she came back on the show, she would have a lot of new storylines. It would be fun to see her life as a real estate agent. I think she’s a great mom and has a lot going for herself. I met her once downtown and she was the sweetest!
