As we previously reported the OG of the OC is officially onboard for season 14 of the Real Housewives of Orange County.
Over the weekend, Vicki announced on Instagram that she officially began filming season 14 of RHOC.
“First night of filming for me and @stevelodge_oc in the books,” Vicki captioned a video post on February 16. “Season 14 @evolutionusa #bravo #rhoc.”
This comes after Vicki missed the first week of filming.
When filming began and Vicki was missing in action rumors surfaced that she had been demoted to a friend of the Housewives. The reason for Vicki’s demotion? Turns out Vicki crossed the line at the season 13 reunion when she accused Kelly Dodd of abusing cocaine.
Vicki denied the demotion claims and insisted she was still negotiating her season 14 contract.
And now details about Vicki’s season 14 role are coming to light.
According to Life & Style, Vicki’s lawyer “offered up some serious leverage” to keep her on the show.
Apparently, Vick’s lawyer promised Evolution Media that Vicki and her boyfriend Steve Lodge would get engaged this season. And turns out it worked. Vicki recently hinted about shopping for engagement rings in the Bahamas in hopes of creating interest in her possible season 14 storyline.
“[It’s] too soon to tell whether Vicki will be a full-time member or a part-time member [of the cast],” a source very close to production added “She will, however, have getting engaged and getting married as a major part of her storyline this season. That was a game changer when she brought that to the table.”
However, we still don’t know the million dollar question – Is Vicki a full-time Housewife or a friend of the Housewife?
Kelly has hinted that Vicki is, in fact, just a friend of the Housewives but says fans will have to wait and see for themselves.
As for Vicki, she tells the RHOC insider that “she got everything she wanted” in her season 14 contract.
Meanwhile, sources say that perhaps Vicki “should have walked like NeNe Leakes did after Real Housewives of Atlanta season 7.”
If you recall NeNe was pushed out during negotiations after season 7 aired.
“Producers did the same thing to her that they did to Vicki,” the insider revealed. “But NeNe left making $50,000 an episode and then ratings tanked without her. NeNe then returned at $100,000 per episode, getting the last laugh!”
It will be interesting to see how Vicki’s season 14 storyline plays out and how much we will actually see of her on the show. I’m curious to see how Vicki and Steve’s engagement will pan out considering it’s her main storyline. I can see Vicki and Steve getting engaged this season but not married.
