Lisa Vanderpump is sorry she didn’t take a break from holding her diamond.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star is now admitting that she wishes she took season 9 off following the death of her brother Mark Vanderpump.
Mark died of an apparent suicide in May 2018. Mere days later Lisa began filming season 7 of Vanderpump Rules. A short time after that she began filming for season 9 of RHOBH.
And as we all know season 9 didn’t go so well for LVP. LVP found herself on the outs with most of her co-stars and refused to film or interact with them for much of season 9. While we don’t know the details Bravo promises they will come out during season 9.
Now in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight Lisa reflects on season 9 and hints about her future on the RHOBH.
“[Andy] said, ‘You know, I think we should’ve given you a year off when you asked for it,’” she shares. “He said, ‘I don’t think you were in a mental state where you were really prepared to deal with it,’ it was very emotional … ‘With hindsight, we probably should’ve given you the year off.’”
“I wasn’t as prepared for combat as I should’ve been,” she confesses.
In fact, Lisa admits that filming Vanderpump Rules was much easier for her then filming RHOBH because she’s executive producer and control what gets shown.
“It was a tough year, personally,” she says. “I don’t know. I have no control over what they show, what’s being filmed and what’s being said. I know for me, we’ve talked about before, I just tell my truth and keep going.”
“The audience has normally been very supportive, and I thank them for that,” she adds.
Lisa says that while fans are constantly supporting her the same can’t be said for her “friend” group which seems to turn on her every other season.
“[Season two], I was accused of giving stories,” she recalls. “Four, some nonsense about a magazine. Six, eight — see I got a year off! It was my year to be beaten up again. It’s every other year, yeah.”
