Carole Radziwill The Real Housewives of New York - RHONY

Carole Radziwill Opens Up About Life Before RHONY, And Her Relationship With The Kennedy Family!

Carole Radziwill is not returning to The Real Housewives of New York next season, however; that doesn’t mean she isn’t going to open up about her life before, during and after Real Housewives. Carole recently has been opening up more about her life prior to the RHONY, and her close friendships with Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and John F. Kennedy Jr., the cousin of her late husband Anthony Radziwill.

Carole opened up about the iconic couple’s secret wedding on Georgia’s Cumberland Island in 1996 in a recent special, ‘The Last Days of JFK Jr.’ Carole shared, “It was a very simple wedding. There was no extravagant band or orchestra or catering.” Writer J. Randy Taraborrelli said in the special that Carole and Caroline worked together to keep the nuptials as private as possible. They even went to an office space together to print out the wedding programs to avoid any details being leaked.

Carole shared on Instagram, “Life Before Real Housewives…This is a part of my life I rarely spoke of on #RHONY. Over a decade ago I sat for an interview with @abc2020. The interview spanned my days working at @abcnews , my marriage and then the untimely death of my husband, Anthony, his cousin John Kennedy and my closest friend Carolyn Bessette. Tonight they will re-air portions of that interview in their special two hour program, “The Last Days of JFK Jr.”

John and Carolyn died tragically in a plane crash in July 1999, along with her sister Lauren Bessette. Carole was one of their closest friends. Carole got the sad news of the tragedy with his assistant and ABC News consultant RoseMarie Terenzio. Terenzio said, “I said ‘Carole, it’s Rose. What’s going on?’ She said, ‘They haven’t landed, they’re not here. Something’s wrong.’ I said ‘No nothing’s wrong, what do you mean they haven’t landed?'” Carole said by 2 A.M. that morning, “there was nothing left to do.”

Carole recently shared photos on social media with the caption, “I was going through old photos and came upon this beautiful soul. Best friend. Best smile. Best girl. 1966-1999.”

I think this is so touching! I really feel for Carole, losing her husband and her best friends tragically – and such a short time apart from one another. That is a lot to deal with, even all of these years later. Time may help to heal, but you never forget when someone you’re close to dies and that stays with you forever. Carole was able to channel everything in her memoir, What Remains. I’m curious to see what next season will be like without Carole. We’ll have to stay tuned, loves!
