Jax Taylor Talks 60 lb. Weight Gain – Says He “Looked Like a Butterball!”

Vanderpump Rules’ Jax Taylor is not someone who I would say is severely overweight; however alcohol, bar food and decades of partying have taken a toll on the reality star.

According to Men’s Health, it took a tweet from a fan for him to realize he had some work to do. Apparently a VPR viewer tweeted Jax saying “Man, you got fat.” Not one to take things personally, Jax says that he is “glad they did it. I thought, ‘Why didn’t my friends tell me? Why didn’t my own girlfriend tell me this?’

Jax reveals that he had gained 60 lbs. since VPR started. Apparently the weight crept up on him without him realizing it until he saw himself on the screen:

“I looked disgusting. I was like a butterball. I was not lean. I didn’t have the chiseled look that I used to have. I was, like, this has got to stop.”

According to Jax, he weighed 175 lbs. for most of his adult life; however got up to 235 lbs. Apparently Pump-tini’s and goat cheese balls aren’t great for lean figures as Jax blames most of his weight gain on the show:

“We’re filming all day. We’re also partying all of the time. We’re drinking all of the time. I didn’t have the time to go to the gym.” he said.

“I was eating more crap than I was working out. Postmates came out. I can order Doritos from my couch? Making a Murderer marathon is on? I’m not getting off of this couch. I’m going to eat everything in sight. Then you wake up and you’re like, ‘What is that?’ That’s my belly.”

Vanity wasn’t the only reason why Jax wanted to get back into shape, as the death of his father had a profound effect on him wanting to change his life as well:

“I said, ‘You know what? I’m not going to hurt myself. I’m not going to drink. I’m going to flip this around and make my dad proud. I’m going to go to the gym. We’re going to start some businesses. We’re going to move up.’ “

Jax Looks amazing in Men’s Health showing that he is taking his clean lifestyle seriously and has already shed some extra pounds:

I am skeptical of this new Jax as it seems a lot, very quickly; however I always hope for the best in people. The death of a parent can be life changing so perhaps the new, improved, lean (and loyal) Jax is here to stay.
