There are a lot of “news” going on with the ladies of RHOA. So what are your thoughts this week? Let’s discuss!
First off, Tanya Sam is joining the show, telling Page Six: “It’s Tanya Time this season. Get ready for a wild ride!” Apparently the newbie was chosen as she wants to “expand the ‘Housewife’ image, stamp out her identity as a successful woman of color and owner/investor in successful multimillion-dollar enterprises” while “giving loyal fans a dose of Atlanta charm by way of Toronto.”
Meanwhile, a seasoned Atlanta housewife is getting ready for some new changes herself as Kandi recently opened up about her decision to use surrogacy to have another baby. Kandi already is a mom of two (daughter Riley and son Ace) however with baby #3, Kandi decided to go down another path.
Visiting Married to Medicine’s Dr. Jackie Walters, Kandi explained that she and Todd had been trying to get pregnant naturally; however it was not happening. In addition, Kandi has gone through various health complications stating:
“I know there was still some fibroids after pregnancy. I feel like it got worse because Ace is two now and nothing’s happening. After having multiple thyroid surgeries, and still the fact that I have not been able to get pregnant the last two years, I know that I am going to have to do the same process again,” Burruss added. “[I had] a couple of scares during my pregnancy with Ace. I was a high risk and I did have bleeding a few times. So my womb is just, it’s not the best place to have a healthy pregnancy with no issues.”
After the good doctor agreed that surrogacy was a great option, Kandi revealed she already had the embryos ready and only would do it if she could use them both:
“I only want to do it if we can do them both. I don’t want to leave anybody behind,” Tucker said, adding that if they could only implant one, they might “need two surrogates.”
While surrogacy is a great option, it doesn’t come cheap: “From $90,000-$130,000 to have a surrogate.”
Kandi previously revealed her concerns with surrogacy, admitted it was easier for Todd to get on board than herself stating:
“I think it’s easier for Todd to handle or deal with because as a man he’s used to somebody else carrying the baby. But for me it’s a little bit harder for me to deal with the thought because I’m supposed to carry my own kids in my mind. But, hey, with science, it’s made other options to be able to make it happen.”
I enjoy watching wives go through important milestones on the show and wish Kandi the best of luck. As for Tanya? Time will tell if she has what it takes to hang with this tough bunch!
