Tribeca TV Festival: Andy Cohen And RHONY Stars Hold 10 Year Anniversary Panel!

The Real Housewives of New York City recently celebrated 10 years of the RHONY at the Tribeca TV Festival. Sonja Morgan, Dorinda Medley, and Tinsley Mortimer sat down with RHONY executive producers Andy Cohen and Lisa Shannon, to reflect and react to ten years of filming the show in New York, share memorable moments from the series, and dish on all the gossip. They made this special appearance for the second annual Tribeca TV Festival.

According to TV Insider, the ladies say a lot of the show is organic. For example, their trips are organic and they usually have an organic reason for travelling there. Sonja said that us New Yorkers have a love-hate relationship with the show. She laughed, “Sure a meal may be disrupted, but they’re like, ‘F**k my brunch! This is amazing!'” Dorinda loves the reactions that they get from people when the RHONY group of ladies comes in. Dorinda explained, “It’s almost like people don’t realize we’re real. They actually went nuts.” The RHONY even has its own bus tour to visit key locations and Tinsley admitted she went one day after being spotted on the street. Update: Tins revealed that she doesn’t leave home without her fake eyelashes anymore. Tins said, “I sleep in them, I wake up in them.”

As for the reunion, as we know seating is super important. Lisa said, “We take into consideration obviously who’s not friendly at the moment. And we take into account who will be fighting or conversing with one another across the couches” in order to avoid shots of women side-by-side facing each other and not the camera. According to Lisa, quieter women get a “louder” neighbor.

It’s always a big decision which Real Housewives will be returning or not. Andy said, “At the end of every season, we talk to the women about what they have coming up, whether they want to come back, what they see for the future. Then we also look at the show and say, ‘How do we want to change the show?’ I think that part of the reason that the entire franchise is successful is that it is about the group of women but it’s an ensemble show. It’s always about, well, what’s best for the group? How’s it gonna be different? Do we want to continue this conversation? Do we want to pivot into a new conversation?” There are also many conversations about who should com back to the show. When asked if we could expect former cast member Jill Zarin, who exited as a full-time Housewife after Season 4, to return to the show, Andy said, “Never say never!”

The ladies shared some of the memories on Instagram:
