Kathy Wakile Vacations In Italy, Shares How Italians Can Eat Carbs And Get Away With It!

Kathy Wakile was recently vacationing in paradise: Cinque Terre, Italy, and has just returned home to New Jersey. Naturally, in Italy you eat pasta and pizza, drink wine, and love life! An added bonus: in Italy it’s perfectly common to eat a lot of carbs and gain no weight. Why? Because of all of the stairs! Talk about a stairway to Heaven! Plus, because it’s prepared with fresh ingredients and it’s all about portion control. As shown on RHONJ, Kathy is all about us ladies indulging! She has a cannoli kit line, a dessert cookbook and a restaurant named Pizza Love. has been sharing vacation photos on her social media, as well as revealing how Italians eat a lot of carbs and gain no weight. The Real Housewives of New Jersey alum revealed that the big secret are the steps.

According to The Daily Dish, Kathy said on Cold Cuts With Al Roker, “My entire life, first thing out of people’s mouth is, ‘How do you stay like that and eat all that pasta?’ I’m like, I don’t eat all the pasta! I eat a couple bites of pasta, I don’t eat all of it. I eat a little bit of chocolate, I eat a little bit of things. I don’t eat an entire platter full of anything.” She also explained that the portions are different in Italy and America. She stated, “I think that in Europe, we know how to eat a little bit of everything. In America, the portions are ginormous. So no one has learned to eat small amounts of food. We’ve grown up with giant meatballs. Everything is all-you-can-eat and super-size. That’s all we know.”

While vacationing she shared on her story, “This is why Italians can eat carbs.” And in the next photo Kathy showed her fitness tracker that displayed she’d taken more than 21,000 steps that day. “I rest my case,” she summed up.

Italy is just so beautiful! I eat a lot of pasta and pizza, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love my carbs. I agree that with exercise and portion control it’s all good. It’s all about balance! I wonder if we will be seeing more of Kathy on the RHONJ this season?!
