Celebrity gossip columnist Rob Shuter (Naughty Gossip) spoke to Kate Casey for her podcast Reality Life with Kate Casey about the Real Housewives of New York, and in his beautiful British brogue, added that he is a major fan of the podcast. Casey pointed out to listeners that Shuter is “deep in the know” when it comes to RHONY, and his subsequent account of behind-the-scenes events served as testimony to that assertion.
So, what really transpired between RHONY Queen Bee Bethenny Frankel and her castmate Carole Radziwill?
“Bethenny is a troubled person and it has been really difficult for her to get along with people for long periods of time,” said Shuter “Anyone in her life who is around a couple of months…a couple of years…should be worried because she doesn’t have a good track record…maintaining friendships and relationships.”
For the podcast host, who has conveyed an empathetic understanding of Bethenny and how she operates, this might have been an opportunity to challenge the gossip columnist, but Kate Casey gave Shuter the floor and proved to be an excellent listener, seeming to appreciate and respect his take on Bethenny and the other RHONY cast members.
Before moving on to Bethenny’s filming friends and frenemies (to borrow Carole Radziwill‘s term), Shuter added “Bethenny’s a tough girl. I admire her hard work and how she’s dedicated to the brand of Bethenny, but outside of that, there are not a lot of people – those she was super close with – that she’s remained close with. We saw it with Jill Zarin. She is no longer close to the people who worked on her talk show or Ellen Degeneres who gave her the talk show. She was friendly with Hoda Kotb and that friendship ended too. She doesn’t have a good track record of keeping friends.”
Both Shuter and Casey were in agreement that Tinsley seems to be an odd match with the other RHONY ladies. Shuter explained that the show has done something similar to Dancing with the Stars, casting a younger member to attract advertisers and a younger demographic, but that this strategy is a fail because the demographic always stays the same.
Before giving exclusive scoop on what to expect at the upcoming reunion, Shuter shared that Luann De Lesseps does not really need the show because her life is devoted to so much more. He added that those connected to the famous musical Chicago were at the Countess’s cabaret show and he wouldn’t be surprised if that was something she pursued in the near future as a next step.
Shuter added that because Luann is so acutely focused on her sobriety, rehabilitation and family, it wouldn’t surprise him if she left the show to focus on getting her affairs in order. While it would be a great loss for us to have RHONY without Lu, he conceded, Lu might decide this is the best next move for herself and her health, and that she’ll undoubtedly continue to have other exciting opportunities.
