Vicki Gunvalson may be the OG of the OC, but her daughter Briana has also been on the hit show since day 1. Briana and Vicki were actually the only two original cast members, as Briana not only was a regular on the show; but also participated in talking heads and reunions. So why aren’t we seeing Vicki’s daughter this season?
Speaking to ET Vicki states that it “It broke my heart” that Briana wasn’t in the opening credits with her for the first time in the show’s history. Vicki explained that Briana was done with the OC limelight and wanted to focus on her family in a more normal setting stating:
“She wanted to be done. She was really at a place in her life with Ryan, Ryan just retired disability Marine, they decided to move to North Carolina, where he’s from, and build a life there.”
“She wanted to just have a break and be kind of incognito, keep the kids off camera.”
I commend Briana for keeping her kids off camera as I feel it could have been a slippery slope, eventually morphing her into an official housewife. Not only that, but with social media everyone is a critic these days with Vicki hinting was another reason for her wanting to leave the show:
“The unfortunate part about putting your children on camera and yourself is, the trolls come out, and the negative people come out, and the people that have their ‘opinion,’ and she’s like, ‘I don’t want to hear it anymore. I’m a good mother, a good wife. We have a great family. I don’t want to hear any negativity,’ and that happens,” explained Gunvalson. “You know, people were trolling bad about Ryan or trolling about her. It gets exhausting.”
Interestingly enough, Vick did not mention her feud with son in law Ryan which we reported on a few weeks ago (for original story click here.) I’m curious to hear if their fallout had something to do with their move or perhaps they moved due to family tension? Either way I miss Briana on the show – she was the only one who seemed to think with a level head and was without a doubt the most down to earth out of the bunch.
