Melissa Gorga’s boutique in New Jersey, Envy by Melissa Gorga, is full of beautiful clothing and accessories that live up to its name. However; her legal drama is nothing to be envied.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star, Melissa Gorga, has been going through a lot of legal drama when it comes to her store. Remember when we saw Melissa’s journey of opening Envy on the RHONJ? In the beginning, her business partner was Jackie Beard Robinson. They got along in the earlier stages of business, however; they ended their partnership as they weren’t agreeing on business matters. Melissa announced on the show that Jackie took all of the clothes from the store. This led to Jackie filing a $30 million defamation lawsuit against Melissa and Bravo’s executive producer Andy Cohen. It was dismissed in April, but Jackie hasn’t given up. It’s now been revealed that an appeal has been filed.
After Jackie sued for defamation and infliction of emotional distress, it was dismissed in April. Then she filed a motion for reconsideration. The judge denied that and the case went into arbitration. However; as of May, court documents reveal that Jackie appealed now. She feels she was portrayed by Melissa, Andy and Bravo as stealing clothes from the store. According to Radar, Jackie told them last year, “It ruins my reputation. It wasn’t necessary.” She also claimed that Melissa misappropriated over $37,000 from Envy. She also said she took the clothes in daylight, not in the middle of the night.
Jackie is seeking $30 million dollars. Wow! It’s crazy how much legal drama Melissa and Andy are going through due to these situations. I doubt any of them anticipated this. I assumed after arbitration it would quietly get resolved in a way that made all parties happy. I don’t know if Jackie’s new appeal will be successful. I have a feeling it will stay in arbitration. On the bright side, Melissa’s boutique seems to be doing great!
