Mob Wives Renee Graziano

Mob Wives: Renee Graziano’s “Grateful” To Still Be Clean & Sober!

Mob Wives are tough females!

There is a confirmed reboot of Mob Wives in the works. However; there haven’t been any updates about the specific dates that it will return.  In the meantime, some of the Mob Wives have been up to different reality television endeavors. Renee Graziano was on Family Boot Camp with her sisters Jennifer Graziano (Mob Wives Creator & Executive Producer) and Lana Graziano. Fellow co-star, Karen Gravano, is working on a new reality television show, too. As seen on Mob Wives, Renee dealt with addiction and depression issues and had to go to rehab to get clean and sober. With her ex-husband becoming a rat (even turning on her father) she went through a lot emotionally. Renee had to deal with a lot because she was betrayed and then she was worried about her father going away on top of that. Ever since her most recent stint in rehab – she has been doing fantastic!

According to Radar Online, Renee explained in an interview, “When I’ve gone to rehab, it’s been because I would get high to not feel, to suppress my feelings and get out of my own head. It has never been about partying, it’s been more about trying not to feel all of the physical and emotional pain from the abuse I’ve suffered.” Renee added that she’s “grateful” to be “clean and sober” now.

Renee explained, “I take it one day at a time.”

Renee said what happened was, “I was prescribed pain medication for a broken coccyx, they were giving me oxys (oxycontin) and sleep meds. I didn’t eat and I wasn’t sleeping for days at that point and my body caved in. I had almost no potassium and that causes a heart attack. I collapsed. I had an overdose and my mom didn’t know what to do so they called the ambulance. They put me on an IV and a 72-hour hold.” After that, she entered rehab in October of 2017 for her fourth time. She said, “I spent two weeks detoxing because after the first week my stomach blew up and they found a tumor. This is what happens when you neglect your body and don’t pay attention.” On top of all of that, she was emotionally drained and depressed. These days Renee is an advocate for mental health and wellness.

Renee explained, “This cause is incredibly important to me because, as someone who struggles from mental health issues, I feel like there’s a lot of misinformation out there. Thirty years ago, I didn’t know what I was suffering from was depression. My family wasn’t big on medication, and back then, being diagnosed with any sort of mental health issue was really frowned upon.” Renee has high hopes for the future, though. The times they are a changing.

“I hope to help show others that they’re not alone and there are many resources to help them,” Renee said.

Of course, Renee has also been missing fellow Mob Wives co-star, Angela ‘Big Ang’ Raiola, who passed away from cancer in 2016. Renee reminisced, “Ang was the kindest soul and the funniest woman I knew. She is with us in spirit.”

I cannot wait for Mob Wives to return! Honestly, I’ve been waiting for this reboot since it left the air. I miss Big Ang, and it definitely will be different without her on Mob Wives. I don’t know what the show will be like without Big Ang, but I’m sure the ladies will bring up her memory because they’re all missing her (as we all are.) I met Big Ang when I first moved to NYC and it was very memorable! She was hilarious and had a personality that nobody else can ever match. She was truly one of a kind and I’m glad I had a special moment with her. Renee is also very nice and funny. I know she can come across strong on the show, but I met her once in Brooklyn and she was very down-to-earth. We actually had the same exact Michael Kors handbag and had a moment over that. LOL. She has a tough exterior, but it’s only because us Italians feel the need to be tough and strong to protect ourselves. Inside we are actually sensitive and sweet. I’m so glad that Renee is clean and sober, and it’s awesome that she’s an advocate for mental health. She’s been through a lot and she deserves happiness and peace.
