Andy Cohen Don’t Be Tardy Kim Zolciak Biermann Let's Discuss: NeNe Leakes The Real Housewives of Atlanta - RHOA

Kim Zolciak Issues An Apology; Claims Her Comments Were Edited Out of Context

Kim Zolciak found herself in a heap of hot water following part three of the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion.

After the reunion wrapped filming, Kim and her husband Kroy Biermann demanded reunion host Andy Cohen and a camera join them in the women’s restroom.

When Andy and the camera entered the restroom they found an angry Kroy and a very emotional Kim, who demanded to know why Andy and her good friend Sheree Whitfield allowed the rest of the cast to attack her and label her a racist.

As Kim raged on about being attacked she told Andy and Sheree,“This whole racism thing in this day and age is bulls—t. Everyone one of those motherf—kers on that couch owes this world a f—kin apology for this racism s—t. They already tried to claim that s—t long ago, Sheree [Whitfield], as you know. Nobody really bought into it because social media wasn’t there and racism wasn’t all that f—king real. And you know it.”

This statement didn’t sit well with fans who quickly questioned IF Kim could really believe that racism didn’t exist before social media.

While most realize that Kim was having an emotional moment and misspoke others didn’t see it that way.

Either way, Kim found herself in a sticky situation with everyone in the media and on social media chiming in and judging her comments.

So it’s not surprising that Kim is now attempting to clear her name by issuing an apology.

During the last RHOA Reunion episode, I made a comment that confused and offended people. I sincerely apologize. Edited out of context, I understand why my remark angered people. Racism is a sad reality in the United States. It has been prevalent throughout our country’s history. Let me be very clear, I do NOT support, tolerate or put up with any form of racism, hate or other discrimination. My love for ALL people runs deep – I am open to all and always have been. I was heartbroken when I watched the last few minutes of the episode and saw how my words were taken out of context. My comment that seemingly “racism didn’t exist 10 years ago” was made as part of a larger, emotional 45-minute conversation about how, sadly, social media has become a hub for hate. Immediately following my confusing comment, I also said that “it’s not as real as it is now” referring to the power of social media. But those remarks didn’t make the show. I believe that social media has made a centuries-old issue more real. Before social media, the public simply observed the news. Now, the public actively participates and has an opportunity to take action – in real time. But this is a double edged sword. Now, when false accusations are made, they are amplified by online platforms regardless of their merit. This wasn’t the case 10 years ago when I started on RHOA. I truly pray that the people wishing horrible things on others, and on me, channel that energy into something positive. Our world would be a much better place if you do. I am committed to making this world a better place to live. I will continue to learn from, and be open to, ALL people.

In the statement, Kim says that her comments at the RHOA reunion were edited out of context.

“During the last RHOA Reunion episode, I made a comment that confused and offended people. I sincerely apologize. Edited out of context, I understand why my remark angered people.” She continued, “Racism is a sad reality in the United States. It has been prevalent throughout our country’s history. Let me be very clear, I do NOT support, tolerate or put up with any form of racism, hate or other discrimination. My love for ALL people runs deep—I am open to all and always have been.”

Kim went on to explain that watching the reunion was heartbreaking for her. “I was heartbroken when I watched the last few minutes of the episode and saw how my words were taken out of context. My comment that seemingly ‘racism didn’t exist 10 years ago’ was made as part of a larger, emotional 45-minute conversation about how, sadly, social media has become a hub for hate. Immediately following my confusing comment, I also said that ‘it’s not as real as it is now’ referring to the power of social media. But those remarks didn’t make the show.”

Adding,“I believe that social media has made a centuries-old issue more real. Before social media, the public simply observed the news. Now, the public actively participates and has an opportunity to take action—in real time.”

“This is a double-edged sword. I will continue to learn from, and be open to, ALL people,” Kim wrapped.

Kim’s husband Kroy also issued a similar statement on Twitter and asked Andy what happened to the rest of the 45-minute conversation they had in the bathroom.

Ugh, this is such a sticky situation. I’m not a huge Kim fan but I don’t think she is racist but I do believe that she is uneducated. Kim makes many uneducated comments and doesn’t realize that some of the statements she makes are or could be considered racist. I’m not going to say anymore because I feel like I’m not expressing myself properly. E’s Daily Pop discussed this in an episode on Wednesday and if you caught it my opinion matches what the hosts expressed. Try to catch it and you’ll get what I’m saying.

Thoughts on Kim’s statement? Do you think Kim’s comments were edited out of context? Are Kim’s comments being blown out of proportion? Is Kim a racist? Or is she simply uneducated? Can Kim survive this scandal? Sound off below!
