Jacqueline Laurita is known for having starred on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, however; she also is known for being an Autism advocate. Jacqueline and Chris have an eight year old, Nicholas, who was diagnosed with autism at age three. Their journey was played out on the show, we even saw Jacq give birth to him in season two! The world is getting more educated now with special needs, and thankfully there are a lot of movements happening. It is much needed!
Just this weekend, Jacqueline and Nicholas, were kicked out of their Franklin Lakes library for making too much noise. Apparently they had gone the day before and had a good experience. Nicholas likes to tap on the DVDs, and Jacq said, “I left there feeling hurt that my son had to leave so abruptly from one of his favorite safe and happy places.”
Chris and Jacq took to social media to talk about the incident, educate people and push for change:
So..Nicholas got kicked out of one of his favorite spots(our PUBLIC library)this week. I guess non contextual vocals & tapping 2ce on the DVD’s are frowned upon. He had a meltdown as I struggled to get him to leave. Not one person offered or tried to help, or even opened the door for us. They just watched me struggle to get him out… as asked. ? My heart hurt so bad for the both of us after I got him out of there. The day before he had such a great experience there. I wish everyone understood #Autism . Time to go back and educate them! Time for inclusion. #autismawareness #autismawarenessmonth #ChrisAndJacFightBack
I was shocked by this! It made me sad. This is not okay. I’m super proud of Jacqueline and Chris for standing up about this and for educating people on Autism and special needs. I don’t think a child with special needs should ever get kicked out of anywhere. That’s beyond rude. People definitely need to get educated and find more love in their hearts. Hopefully we see changes soon because time is up!
