Season 2 of the Real Housewives of Dallas was brutal, dramatic, and intense and I loved every minute of it, but it turns out things were even uglier behind the scenes!
RHOD newbie D’Andra Simmons reveals in a new interview with our girl Kate Casey, on her Reality Life with Kate Casey podcast, that she was fat-shamed and tormented by one co-star, who even threatened to make her weight issues a storyline! How rude!!
It turns out D’Andra is getting the last laugh cause she’s revealing all the tea and it’s piping hot!
“There is a lot of Adderall going around I think, with these women,” D’Andra reveals. “I’ll tell you an interesting story. When I did my tape, I was overweight, and I have struggled with my weight my entire life. My biggest fear is I was going to be made fun of because of my weight.”
Adding, “It was very stressful because there was a cast member that was saying I was fat and she was going to use that against me on the show. I felt like she was getting her other friends on the show to use that as well.”
Unfortunately, D’Andra wouldn’t name the bully in this scenario, but any guesses? It has to be either Cary Deuber, Stephanie Hollman, or Brandi Redmon because there’s no way it could be Kameron Westcott or LeeAnne Locken since they have nothing but love for D’Andra. I’d hate to think any of those ladies would fat shame but you never know. Afterall, it’s reality TV and almost everyone is two-faced.
However, D’Andra confesses, “I almost wish that she did do it because it would have given me such a great addition to my storyline because most woman struggle with their weight at some point in their lives.” I also just want to know who is the person who actually thought this was an acceptable thing to do for a storyline on a reality TV show.”
While staying on the topic of looks, D’Andra also opened up about her breast reduction.“At the reunion, in the first part they said ‘how many people have had boob jobs?’ and I didn’t raise my hand because I had a breast reduction. I want smaller breasts because I like fashionable clothes and if you have big boobs, you can’t wear them.”
As for RHOD, D’Andra admits she loves promoting the shows but prefers to do press outside of the bigger cities like Los Angeles and New York telling Kate, “I have been traveling to smaller cities and doing the local press there because I found that those are the people that really watch the show, care about the show, and get invested in you as a person on the show. They love your stories, and they want to hear more. I like to go meet those people. I love the fact that I’ve met so many of them and they’ve been so kind to me. It’s important to me to keep the relationships with Midwest or wherever in small-town America.”
Adding,“I love to take photos with people. I love to meet them. I want to know their names and why they watch the show. I want to thank them for watching the show. That’s truly how I feel in my heart.” Umm…could she be any sweeter or more down to earth?
Meanwhile, D’Andra admits she doesn’t get the negative attention her girl Kameron Westcott has been getting.
“I think she has been treated very unfairly this year. She has had a lot of negative commentaries thrown at her.”
Confessing, “It bothers her a little bit. It doesn’t bother her as much as it bothers me. She’s a really fun, loving, wonderful person, and hopefully, if we come back, they can see her next season.”
D’Andra then moved on to discuss the logistics of the reunion, which seem to quite complicated and controlled. D’Andra even reveals that Bravo picks out the Housewives’ outfits – controlling much?
“Going into the reunion, I was the only one allowed to wear a jumpsuit, which I thought was kind of cool. Bravo wanted me to wear a jumpsuit,” D’Andra explained. “They choose the outfits and they came to me and said, ‘They want you to wear a jumpsuit.’ They came to me and said ‘What colors do you like? This is what the color palette is.’ Then they sent the clothes to me.”
D’Andra explains that the night before the reunion production met with the cast and “That’s when they told us that no husbands were allowed when in fact Cary’s husband was coming. I was very disappointed.”
Adding, “Just tell me it’s going to happen because it’s not fair to pull a surprise like that.”
“[LeeAnne] knew they were coming in to just slaughter her for the rest of the day. That’s why she walked off. I think it was right for her to walk off. She needed to cool down,” D’Andra wrapped.
I LOVED D’Andra this season, and this interview just made me LOVE her even more! I’d love to see D’Andra open up about her weight struggles on RHOD because it’s so freakin’ relatable for both men and women. Personally, I think D’Andra and Kameron MUST come back for season 3 because they helped revive and bring new life into RHOD, after the dismal first season. The entire RHOD cast is GOLD right now and they need to keep the magic going. Yes, I’m still shocked I’m saying all of this considering how much I HATED season 1 of RHOD.
Also, shoutout to our girl Kate Casey! She’s the best and if you don’t listen to her podcast you totally should! She’s hilarious and so sweet!
Thoughts on D’Andra’s interview? Do you think all the RHOD take Adderall? Which RHOD do you think fat shamed D’Andra? Are you surprised Bravo picks out the Housewives reunion outfits? Has Kameron been treated unfairly? Do you want D’Andra and Kameron to be back for season 3?
