Lisa Vanderpump is a reality star in a class all of her own, and now even E! is taking a page from her book with their brand new show What Happens At The Abbey!
This show is, “Vanderpump Rules on steroids,” and it clearly pushes the boundaries in a way that we haven’t seen before. The Abbey is a Hollywood gay bar on the same street as SUR, so once it was announced Bravo fans automatically assumed that Lisa Vanderpump would be furious that E! ripped off VPR; but apparently that is not the case!
In a new interview with E! News, The Abbey owner David Cooley opened up about his history with Lisa Vanderpump and Ken Todd. They go way back and Lisa wasn’t about with the spin-off, in fact, he approached them before officially signing on; obviously LVP didn’t mind and even had some great advice!
“It’s a great compliment because they’ve been friends even before they moved over from London, Lisa and Ken. And I was thinking, ‘Should I do this show?’ They were some of the first people [I asked],” David admitted. Adding, “[They’re] my neighbors, so I went to them and asked their advice and they were wonderful. To be asked, ‘How do you feel to be a Lisa Vanderpump?’ She’s a lot prettier, but it’s a very nice compliment.”
Not only do today’s celebrities frequent The Abbey, but Hollywood legends have created many memories with David and his fabulous staff over the years.
“We’ve has Sir Elton [John], we’ve had Lady Gaga, Britney, Christina, it goes on and on. But it still goes down to my favorite, it was my cocktails with Elizabeth Taylor. I mean you can’t beat that. She was a great drinker with me. I miss her,” he wrapped.
