Karen Huger is the self-proclaimed, “Grand Dame” of Potomac, and on Sunday night’s episode she took her role very seriously. She arranged for the RHOP cast to sit-down and hash out there issues, but in typical housewives fashion, it only led to more drama.
In this week’s Bravo Blog she credited herself for trying to repair the broken relationships, and gets candid on some of the issues amongst the cast. She also gave her opinion on Katie Rost’s charity event, and opens up about their current relationship.
Katie’s Casino Royale event looked like a mess, but Karen did acknowledge her, “effort” and decision to showcase her charity. But she felt the need to mention that she invited, “many” of her friends who came and wore impressive outfits.
“Casino Royale night – what can I say? Katie made a gallant effort to do a good thing for a great cause. I asked many of my friends to come and support her event and show up they did, dressed to the nines in their gowns and tuxedos. I felt Katie’s choice of entertainment while a little awkward for an adult Casino Royale night, but it accomplished what the evening was all about, which was to showcase the kids from Imagination Stage, Katie’s charity of choice,” Karen recalled.
Then she threw some shade Katie’s way, and it’s surprising she kept her opinions so filtered; we all know she has a lot more to say. “While I choose not to throw Katie’s event under the bus, as she does of so many others who are trying to raise money for a great cause, It was clear that the event was missing its JOY Juice. I guess Katie really did need my help,” she boasted.
Karen and Katie don’t have a relationship past social media, since Katie left RHOP it doesn’t seem likely that they will. “Katie and I communicate with one another on social media but we’ve not seen one another since the Casino Royale night,” she confirmed.
Karen was visibly shocked to hear that Robyn wasn’t siding with Gizelle, and instead accused her of going too far with the Charrisse drama. As a result, Karen was happy to step in and plan an afternoon for the group to hash out their many issues; even though it was unsuccessful, she credits herself for attempting to unite the cast.
“I consider both Robyn and Gizelle my friends. More importantly, I admire and respect the bond the two of them share. They are the Batman and Robin of our dysfunctional group of frenemies. I was not surprised that Robyn said she felt ‘Gizelle had crossed the line.’ I was surprised, however, that she would say that she would have been waiting at Gizelle’s house if she had said those things about her. How can Robyn go from bestie to combat mode so quickly? Clearly, the stress of being placed in the middle of this mess has taken a toll on her,” Karen explained.
Elaborating further, “With all the backstabbing, name-calling and outright lying we have going in our frenemy group right now, I’m not going to stand by and watch it destroy a truly genuine bond of friendship. All of the drama in our group caused this strain on Robyn and Gizelle’s relationship. What better place to have this conversation than in the presence of all the ladies? The purpose of this meeting was to be transparent and authentic with one another. I don’t talk about people behind their backs, that lends itself to the misinterpretation of what it is that I’ve said. I said what I said and delivered it when and where I did because it was the right time and the right thing to do. All parties were present. There is no room for she said this or she said that. I said EXACTLY what I said. Encouraging two good friends to have a conversation that could quite possibly save their friendship is a good thing. I would want my friend to do that for me,” Karen admitted.
Finally she revealed how she feels about RHOP newbie Monique Samuels, and slammed Gizelle for throwing shade in the wrong direction!
“It was great meeting Monique. She has a bubbly personality and a quick wit. Monique struck me as someone who likes to have fun any place, any time. Gizelle did what she always does with the newbie. LET the shading begin. Good Lord, Gizelle, all the woman said was that she was currently looking for a home. How Gizelle got Monique may not have a home from that statement beats me. To make matters worse, Gizelle asks her, “So you don’t have a home?” Gizelle went from zero to one hundred with the shade in less than a heartbeat. I get it though. With these women, if say you’re house hunting, selling your home or just the word HOME, all hell breaks loose and curious minds begin to run amok. Well, Monique shut that down quick and in a hurry – she’s got 4. Four houses that is, next question Gizelle,” Karen wrapped.
