Kathy Wakile is now focused on cooking things up – off camera!
The Real Housewives of New Jersey fixture, who is not returning to the show, in any capacity, for season 8, is opening up to Page Six about her next venture and her hope that it will be “drama free.”
“The show was a fun chapter, and now I’m ready to turn the page and do things that are really close to my heart. I’m lucky to be involved in the culinary world — it’s my passion — and I’m working on projects that involve that so I’m excited,” Kathy explained.
“No catfights involved,” her husband, Richie Wakile added.
Kathy joined RHONJ in 2010 as a full-time Housewife and remained on the show until 2016, as a friend of the Housewives.
Despite her exit from RHONJ, Kathy says being on the Housewives was a positive experience, but she sees how the show and fame can destroy families. Umm..like your own?
“I’ve seen the mess that has happened to other families, but thank God we’re very solid, and we are who we are. I think that when you always speak the truth, you can’t get hurt.”
While on the subject of family, Kathy opened up about her cousin Teresa; admitting that they don’t speak often.
“I don’t really get too, too involved, but I know they’re doing well and I’ve seen them recently during the time of loss,” Kathy reveals, referring to the death of Teresa’s mother Atonia in March.
Adding,“We’re a strong family, so I think everybody will get through this just fine.”
I have to laugh at this Kathy came on RHONJ behind Teresa’s back, very well knowing it would destroy her family. And then Kathy continued to try and get close to Teresa when it was convenient for filming. Not even attempting to heal and build a real relationship with Teresa again like Joe and Melissa did. Kathy is a nice person – I’ve met her once – but I’m glad she won’t be back. It’s time to close that chapter on RHONJ.
