Over the summer the Vanderpump Rules crew headed to New Orleans for the joint bachelor/bachelorette party from hell, in honor of Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney. We are now seeing what really went down on the emotional trip, and although we already know that Tom and Katie tied the knot, there road to the altar clearly wasn’t an easy one!
The cause of Katie’s constant drunken rage towards Tom was finally brought to the surface, and it turns out that his infidelity in Vegas years ago is still a huge issue for her. Kristen Doute is who brought this revelation to light, and she caught a lot of flack from the VPR guys. Now she’s defending her actions to The Daily Dish, and got candid on how she really feels about their relationship!
“I think New Orleans was so much crazier than we thought it was going to be,” Kristen said. Adding, “Somehow we thought we would go and have the best time and no one would fight. Yeah, that never happens. So I don’t know what we were thinking. I think Katie worded it best that my execution and my tact maybe weren’t on point, but the intention was there. And I think the intention should matter. I really thought that if I caught Schwartz at his most vulnerable state that it would be like truth serum — and it was the absolute worst idea ever because I basically ruined a really fun night,” she admitted.
Kristen’s time in therapy clearly has helped her, but it may have helped her friends as well. Some thought that she was involving herself in their business, but she actually facilitated the couple addressing the real problems in their relationship.
Following their New Orleans blow-up, Tom and Katie worked on their issues and are not husband and wife! “At the end of the day, as people will see the rest of this season play out, had Carter and I really not drilled this down Schwartz’s throat, I don’t know if they ever would have come to grips with what the problem was. So maybe it wasn’t the best timing, but you’re welcome Tom and Katie,” she clarified.
Kristen’s relationship also grew stronger from the New Orleans trip, and she was so proud to see how Carter had her back; this was definitely a change from her Tom Sandoval days! “I was a little surprised to see Carter speaking up because obviously I wasn’t in the elevator and I wasn’t in the hallway in that moment, and I also wasn’t at the gator lunch — but it was nice cause I’ve never had a boyfriend who’s ever defended me. I feel like I can just re-watch that clip on replay when they’re in the elevator and Schwartz calls me like a B word and Carter’s like, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa.’ I’m like, ‘Yes!’ That’s whats up Schwartz, take a page out of Carter’s book. Defend your lady,” she wrapped.
