Eden shared that her sister Catya Sassoon died from a drug overdose at 34, and while she mentioned her sister’s drug fueled past with Kim Richards, she laid it all out there to People this week!
Eden opened up about being “numb” to the situation for years, but she’s finally in a healthy place and ready to face her past head-on. Catya starred in Tuff Tur in 1985, and she became very close with her co-stars Kim Richards and Robert Downey Jr. Both Kim and Robert still battle their demons everyday, and it’s clear that this was a wild, but dangerous time in all of their lives.
“This was way way back in the day, when my dad bought Frank Stallone’s house in Bel-Air,” Eden recalled. Continuing, “Kim would come over with Robert Downey — and Robert would play the piano like crazy. I was like ‘Who are all these, like, insane [people].’ ” Eden noted that at first her sister was “alive and vibrant,” however things quickly took a turn for the worst!
“Sure enough they all sort of had their stuff. I think on this set was the beginning of everybody’s drug and alcohol abuse, if you really look at it. It was kind of pre-f—ed up days,” Eden recalled.
Robert Downey Jr. and Kim Richards both have multiple arrests and rehab stints under their belt, but finally the actors are living a clean, sober, healthy life!
Eden was lucky enough to learn from Catya’s mistakes, and she recently celebrated 4 years of sobriety! She credits an “ongoing cleanse” as her motivation to stay on the right track!
Next week Eden and Kim finally meet (again) and take a walk down memory lane; it’s sure to be an intense, emotional, and eye-opening storyline!
