Last season on RHOBH Kyle Richards opened up about feuding with her older sisters Kathy and Kim. She revealed that there were many factors contributing to rift, but one in particular was Kyle’s decision to produce a show based on their childhood. The sisters clearly didn’t see eye to eye in this situation; Kathy and Kim felt that their privacy was being violated because of course, they would be a huge part of the show. While Kyle defended that she was an adult and it was her decision; Plus, she insisted that it would only be “inspired” by their childhood. Kyle has been moving forward with her “dark comedy,” and this is the first time she is working behind the camera!
Recently Kyle confirmed that Alicia Silverstone was officially onboard with the project, and she was very excited to share this news! “@KyleRichards18: So excited to share this“
According to Variety Kyle’s pilot is called “American Woman,” and is “set in the ’70s amid the sexual revolution and the rise of feminism.” Alicia Silverstone (who starred in Clueless for those who don’t know; as if!) is the lead, 40-year old Bonnie Nolan. She finds herself a lone single mother of 2 beautiful daughters whose perfect life falls apart before her eyes. As a single woman with no means to support herself or her children, “Bonne is an enigma of the times.”
Just this week another 1990’s movie star Mena Suvari (American Beauty) was cast in the sitcom. Mena will play Kathleen, Bonne’s best friend who “yearns for love and marriage but her habit of picking up so-called ‘boy toys’ who exploit her for her looks and her money stands in the way of her happiness.”
Kyle is a co-executive producer on this project and I am very intrigued; although a bit confused. None of these sound to be based off of Kyle’s childhood, unless Bonne is supposed to be her mom and she removed one of her sisters from the show because of the feud? Her mother’s name is Kathleen, so I’m guessing she switched the names up a bit? Regardless this sounds like a great new show and I will definitely be tuning in!
