Oh, Shit! The drama in the OC just got REALLY real. The son of former Real Housewives of Orange County star Lauri Peterson is a suspect in attempted murder case located in Costa Mesa, California.
Josh Waring, Lauri’s only son, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in the shooting of a man on Monday.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Josh was arrested several hours after the shooting took place following a police chase in Santa Ana.
The police believe Josh, 27, shot a 35-year-old man in the lower torso. The shooting took place around 2:30 am at the victim’s home after a disagreement between him and Josh.
“Apparently there had been a previous confrontation between [Waring] and the occupants of that residence earlier, and he had returned,” Lt. Paul Beckman of the Costa Mesa police revealed.
The victim was taken to the hospital in Santa Ana and is expected to survive.
Meanwhile, Josh fled the crime scene in a stolen BMW SUV. Following a lengthy chase, Josh crashed the SUV and attempted to flee on foot but according to police, “After a brief standoff, he surrendered without further incident to the Santa Ana police.”
Josh was booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, vehicle theft, felony evading police, hit-and-run and assault and battery. Josh’s bail is set at $1 million.
According to police, no gun was found in the stolen SUV, but other evidence tying Josh to the shooting was located in the vehicle.
This isn’t the first time Josh has been in trouble with the law in May he pleaded not guilty to felony drug and forgery charges.
And back in 2008, Josh pleaded guilty to three felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with the internet to sell.
Furthermore Josh’s court records show he has pleaded guilty to various drug-related charges including resisting arrest, hit-and-run, and battery.
If you recall Josh’s drug and behavioral issues were well documented on the Real Housewives of Orange County; as a teenager on season one of RHOC, Josh dealt with drug and behavior issues that landed him in Juvenile dentition. Lauri left the RHOC in 2008 to deal with Josh’s issues privately.
I’m shocked. It’s very sad to see this happen to such a young person who has apparently been tormented with addiction and emotional issues since a teenager. It proves that everyone has problems not matter how much money or fame they have. My heart goes out to Lauri and her family. Hopefully, Josh, can turn his life around and become rehabilitated. I think he has a long, hard road ahead of him.
