While season eight of the Real Housewives of New York has been a wild ride so far, star Luann de Lesseps thinks it may be time to bring back one of the OG NY Housewives. During a recent interview with ET, Luann opened up about season eight and what could make RHONY even better.
As for season eight, Luann says the vibe “is different,” this year.“I feel it’s really authentic [this season] because we’re all old friends. We’ve known each other a long time, and there’s a lot of flashbacks going on to the previous seasons, and I think it gives it weight and depth, and I think it kinda jells.”
Despite loving the season eight cast, Luann admits she still misses the Housewives who are no longer part of the show.
“You know, I always miss the girls who aren’t on the show anymore.Kristen [Taekman’s] a great girl, so is Heather [Thomson]. But you know, they’ve moved on, and I just keep moving forward,” Luann explains.
While Luann may miss her former co-stars, there’s one former Housewife in particular that she would like to see return.
“Oh, Jill Zarin!” Luann reveals. “Everybody wants to see Jill.”
Jill was fired from RHONY in 2011 when Bravo revamped and recast the show. Luann reveals that Andy Cohen tried to bring Jill back for one scene during season six, but it never happened because of Ramona Singer.
“Ramona [Singer] found out, and she put the kibosh on that.Because Jill had the ‘goods’ on her … What that means is Jill knew what was going on in Ramona’s life,” Luann reveals.
Luann notes,“[Jill]’s the Jewish mom. She knows everything.”
While Luann and fans may like to see Jill return to RHONY, it’s not likely to happen. In a 2014 interview, Andy joked that there would be “a little bit of a cast mutiny” if Jill returned, especially since her former friend turned enemy Bethenny Frankel is back on the show.
I’d love to Jill come back to RHONY. I loved Jill in the series, and I especially liked Jill and Bethenny’s friendship. It might be fun to see Jill jump back into the mix even if she just comes back as a friend of the Housewives.
