#ProudMommy Yolanda Hadid has made it no secret that when it comes to her children, she is a mamma bear protecting her cubs! Recently supermodel Rebecca Romijn decided to ‘poke the bear’ by speaking out that the new crop of supermodels (such as Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid) weren’t exactly real models but rather social media superstars as they were known more for their Instagram posts than high fashion style.
“No one has proven yet that numbers of followers translates to revenue. So it is frustrating. I know a lot of people — legitimate fashion people — can’t stand it. Hate it that these, you know, social media stars are now the supermodels in fashion. They are not true supermodels. And the thing is, I have always looked to Vogue magazine to lead the way, not be a follower. I rely on Vogue to set the standard, not follow what everybody else is doing. So I have been disappointed that fashion magazines have been supporting this trend of social media stars to set our style standards. But it will change; fashion always does.”
Naturally, Rebecca has received some backlash and has since attempted to back track on her statements; releasing a statement on Twitter that you shouldn’t believe the ‘clickbait’ and she wasn’t directing it towards the two reality stars/models.
However, this seems to be too little too late for Yolanda as she released the following series of tweets defending Gigi and her BFF Kendall Jenner saying:

I think some of the supermodels that worked in a different generation can seem bitter because fame has come so easily to models such as Gigi and Kendall, but at the end of the day times have changed and fashion, like every other industry, is using technology to their advantage.
Whose side at you on? Team Rebecca or Team Yolanda/Gigi?
