While The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 8 ended last week the drama is heating up for Phaedra Parks. The Atlanta based attorney could be headed to court as early as tomorrow morning to defend her reputation and clear her name of any involvement in estranged husband Apollo Nida’s criminal activity.
According to Rollingout.com there were rumors of Apollo’s shady ways even before he was convicted of fraud and identity theft, thanks to a tell-all book written by Phaedra’s former associate Angela Stanton. Now that Phaedra has adjusted to life without Apollo, and finished filming for a few months, she is ready to end the rumors and take Angela to court over the book!
In 2012 Angela Stanton published a book Lies Of A Real Housewife: Tell The Truth & Shame The Devil, where she accused Phaedra and Apollo of participating in forgery, theft, and racketeering. Stanton claims that they brought her into “their world of crime,” before “abandoning her once she was arrested.” Angela also alleged that Phaedra was the “ring leader of this criminal enterprise.” Furthermore she accused that Phaedra had a “secret girlfriend” and was into “freaky sex.”
“Phaedra was this crooked attorney who knew how to commit crimes against the federal government. She also knew how to get away. Phaedra Parks had studied the law extensively, and learned how to manipulate the cracks in the system,” Angela wrote.
When the book was published Phaedra filed a defamation lawsuit against Angela, and in return she filed a countersuit. Phaedra has attempted many times to have the counterclaims dismissed, yet was denied.
This case is still very real to Phaedra, because as recently as March a judge denied her request to dismiss Angela’s suit. Phaedra has one more chance today to dismiss Angela’s claims. If this request is denied this case will go to trial tomorrow morning at 9:30 AM in Georgia.
Neither Phaedra nor Angela has commented on the new developments in the case, as they probably are not allowed to. I hope for Phaedra’s sake her requested is granted; a long, drawn-out legal battle is the last thing she needs right now! Angela seems to be very bitter and unafraid to speak her mind; who knows what else she will come out if the case goes to trial!
The AATRH team wants to wish Phaedra the best as she endures this new legal battle; we will keep you posted on the status of this court hearing as more details emerge!
