On last week’s episode of The Real Housewives of New York City Dorinda Medley got a lot of attention from Bethenny Frankel, and it wasn’t all-positive! Dorinda and her friend, newbie Jules Wainstein were in the line of fire against Bethenny’s “judgments,” and in her Bravo Blog from last week’s episode Dorinda gives her take on Bethenny’s shade. She makes it clear that she doesn’t appreciate the things Bethenny said about her, or Jules, and she wants to know why! Dorinda also wants us to know that she “didn’t have to be carried out of nowhere!”
And we’re baaaaaaaack! WHAT WERE YOU DOING FOR SEVEN MONTHS WITHOUT DORINDA?! I’ve missed you all so much! OK, where do we start?
How about that NEW new girl, Jules? What do you guys think? She’s great, right? I love her so, so, so, so much. Jules and I met a few years ago when I was on my second date with John. We were at this really beautiful wedding for a mutual friend at the University Club, and, of course, the moment we walk in, Mr. Social (John) spotted some friends and beelined straight for them. So there I was, looking around at the dresses, the faces, and then…this exotic creature, this tall, beautiful girl with long black hair, a perfect smile, and stunning eyes… Who the hell was that? (I figured, at the very least, I’ll find out the designer and rip off her look.) I walked over and said, “I don’t know who you are, what you do, and why you’re here, but I want to know all of it, because I need you in my life.” She laughed and snorted when I wouldn’t stop laughing. And that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship!
And now we’re both Housewives. She’s a mother, a wife, a friend and so much fun. I adore her, and it was almost crushing to see her first lap around the Housewife track be so difficult with Queen B. Her first introduction at Catch was not only overloaded with comparisons and fast judgments, it was unnecessarily mean. I saw one of my dearest friends be compared to Bethenny’s Mommie Dearest, and then there was another Star Wars reference for Michael, and that’s just not nice. Not nice, B… One question for you: WHY?!
The one good thing for me is that I’m no longer the newbie, so some of that pressure is off of me, BUT not even I got grilled, seared, boiled and fried on the first day like Jules was. She’s a tough cookie, that Jules. She’ll be fine. And no matter what anyone does, no one can “ruin” a good thing when it comes to Jules. You’ll see.
Of course, Bethenny doesn’t just stop with her commentary on Jules. Good ol’Dorinda gets the full treatment too. Here’s the thing, I didn’t get “carried out” of nowhere. I was very upset by a comment she made, and I did not bounce back from it very easily. We were having a party, it was late, and a few too many mouths were yapping about things that don’t concern them. Bethenny knows what I’m talking about. As you saw in this episode, Bethenny has an opinion on everything, and it’s usually not a nice one. It’s just not nice! If it’s not someone’s boyfriend, it’s their home, or their friends, or their lifestyle, or their breakfast choices…there’s always an opinion. OK I get it…she doesn’t like John! That’s fine. I don’t need her to. I don’t need anyone to like John. I don’t need anyone to like ME either. Here’s the thing, I was raised to be polite, to be accepting, and if someone wrongs you, respond, get your point across, and make sure it echoes. I’m used to watching these girls take down anyone or anything that they don’t like or understand. And like I said at the reunion last year, “Here’s the good thing…I DON’T GIVE A SH–!” I love John, I care for John, he loves me, I love him, and that’s all that matters to me, and that’s all that’s important. At the end of the day, I also have my opinions about how someone runs their life or their family or their love life, but I’m their friend, not their mother, not their husband, and not their boss. A friend is supportive, understanding, and unconditionally loving and loyal. Period.
I am happy to see that Carole and Adam are going stronger than ever. I’ll be honest, I didn’t think that would actually work, but I’m proud to say I was very wrong. They really do make the cutest of couples and when they walk in together, there’s a real gorgeous energy about them. Maybe it’s the kale, but it’s very nice to see one of your friends be truly happy. She found her niche with Adam, defied the skeptics and, after all she’s gone through, deserves a great, solid, passionate relationship. I’m so happy she’s so happy. More power to them.
I can’t wait to be able to say that about Ramona too. She looks absolutely better than ever. She’s really having the time of her life and, considering what SHE’S gone through too, she deserves it. Listen, divorce weighs a woman down, that’s for sure, but look at how she’s bounced back…and I mean BOUNCE! One thing is certain: you can’t keep a good girl down.
(But if I hear “dating and skating” one more time, I’m reaching for an ice pick…)
So glad we’re back! I’ve missed you, and I’m ready to get the show on the road, and what a winding road it is!
I can not wait for tonight’s episode of The Real Housewives of New York, Dorinda’s on the defense and she seems MAD!
Thoughts on Dorinda’s blog? Do you think that Bethenny was too hard on Dorinda and Jules? What do you think about Dorinda and John’s relationship? Do you believe Bethenny’s story about Dorinda and John in the Hamptons? Will you be watching RHONYC tonight?
