The season 8 premiere of The Real Housewives of New York City was this week and the Big Apple ladies have a newbie on the scene; Jules Wainstein. From night 1 we see that Jules is a spitfire stay-at-home-mom who needs her credit card limit increased ASAP. She was brought into the group by Dorinda Medley, she had met Bethenny Frankel once before (and probably didn’t make a good impression), and as we learn in this week’s Bravo Blog she has known Ramona Singer for years.
Bethenny seemed to have an opinion of Jules before they even got their drinks at brunch, and it wasn’t a good one. Jules seems to have set her, and her family up for one tough season; I feel bad for them. Her husband’s height has been made fun of since scene 1 of her debut season, and since the show is about the wives I’m sure he’s not excited for this unexpected scrunitiy. Bethenny publicly accused Jules of having an eating disorder, and then on WWHL said that story line plays out this season; an eating disorder is no joke and this topic can get very, very dark. Bravo also made sure to include her asking her husband for a napkin after she ate, and him reply with, “again.”
Jules’ parenting is sure to be under fire as well, after she admitted to “bribing” her kids; something she already is getting flack for. She complained multiple times in a short time span about how hard it is to be a full time mom, yet has a live-in nanny and a housekeeper (enough said). I’m not a mother myself so I have nothing to add, but parenting groups everywhere are up in arms over her complaining!
You would think she’d be a fan of the show since she has friends on it, but given some of her behaviors I’m not so sure she has. This may be another season on the new girl having it rough, we will have to wait and see!
After all these months, I can’t believe that the first episode would “come so quickly!” As you can imagine, I’m filled with excitement, worry, bewilderment and a real sense of curiosity to how this is all going to work out. Filming this has been a real experience. It’s been a time for me to explore new things, friends, embrace challenges and reflect on life. Let the journey begin…
Part of the excitement from joining the show is meeting this new group of wonderful women. Dorinda introduced me to the group, but I’ve also known Ramona for a few years. It’s true I also met Bethenny at her Cinco de Mayo party, which by the way, I’d like to give a shout out to all my “Upper East Side Jewishy” girlfriends! I don’t know what that looks like, but it probably looks like a Chanel bag, so let’s take that as a compliment ladies, LOL. I was excited to meet the infamous Bethenny. We have similar friends, kids the same age, and I thought out of this group of girls we had the most in common. I’m not gonna lie, I was kind of caught off guard watching the brunch at Catch, because usually when I meet someone for the first time I like to get to know them. It seems like Bethenny likes to figure out which label fits best…not just with me but clearly with Dorinda, as well, and I feel this may be a reoccurring theme. Anyways, if I remind her of her mother and she is anything like my mom–gorgeous, smart and put together–I’ll take it!
John and Dorinda get a lot of flack. I feel that if my friends are happy, I’m happy for them. At the end of the day it’s none of my business, but Dorinda is a grown woman, and if she’s happy and having fun, then she deserves to be. John is a sensitive guy. We should all be so lucky to celebrate our relationships monthly. The only reminder I get is the headache Michael gives me for my credit card bill! Haha oopsies…
FINALLY everyone gets to meet the Wainstein family. I have to say Zoé’s cameo (our family dog) was amazing… all of that hair and makeup did the trick! Parenting is challenging, and you gotta have some humor while doing it. It’s tough, but I enjoy every moment being with my children and hope to be the best mom I can be. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
I have to say this season is really gonna knock your socks off! Even I’m excited to sit and watch, and I already know what happens!
Thank you for letting me be a part of this amazing show and sharing this ride with you.
Jules is keeping an amazing attitude after a rough introduction to The Real Housewives of New York City, I’m going to keep an open mind and not make anymore judgments until we know her better.
Overall the premiere was impressive; it was full of drama, great outfits, and fun!
What did you think of Jules? Thoughts on her Blog? Did you feel bad about the ladies talking about her husband’s height? Did you think Bethenny went hard on Jules? Did you think Bravo made it seem like Jules has an eating disorder? What did you think of her parenting? Thoughts on the RHONYC premiere; any predictions for season 8?
