This week on the season finale of The Real Housewives of Potomac Karen Huger lost control on Ashley Darby. Tensions were running high between the two before Gizelle’s “come to Jesus” lunch, and this week in her Bravo Blog Karen revealed the two are still a work in progress. Karen also disclosed that she has not spoken to Ashley since the reunion, and they still have a lot of work to do on their relationship; she did not share if she ACTUALLY wants a friendship with Ashley.
Bravotv.com: How is Rayvin doing in college? Were you able to see her every month? Any kissing you know of?
Karen Huger: Rayvin is doing great in college. While it was an adjustment for me she handled it like a pro and lovingly made sure I did NOT make my monthly visits as I had planned. I sent away my baby and got a young woman back in return. Our mother/daughter bond is stronger than ever. I’m very proud of her.
- Bravotv.com: What were you feeling going into the “come to Jesus” lunch considering your issues with Ashley?
KH: I appreciated Gizelle putting together the luncheon and I wanted to support that effort. I felt that attending the luncheon so soon after my cocktail party was risk. My emotions were very raw. I was very much still in my mama bear mode concerning Ashley.
- Bravotv.com: Tell us about tell Ashley she should have her own children — and then your comments on respecting other peoples’ perspective. Do you stand by both statements?
KH: Ashley shared with as all, her desire to have her own child; she very much wants to be a mom. I wish that for her as well. I feel that once she holds her own child in her arms she will better understand my boundaries/perspectives concerning parenting and my desire to protect my child.
Bravotv.com: What was your relationship with Ashley going into the Reunion? Did you feel your beef was squashed after the luncheon?
KH: I had not seen nor spoken with Ashley going into the reunion and emotions on both sides were still very high. I walked away from the luncheon feeling we had made progress but there was still work to be done.
Karen rubbed me the wrong way quite a few times this season, however she grew on by the end. I think in the finale we finally met Shaka, Karen’s alter ego; hopefully we see much more of her if Karen is back for season 2. The Real Housewives of Potomac has been criticized for their lack of drama, and maybe all of the ladies need to bring their “Shaka” if there is a second season. Overall I liked this new franchise, but think it’s got a long way to go before it’s a Bravo hit!
Thoughts on Karen’s blog? Did she go too far with Ashley? Did you think her friendship with Ashley was doomed from the start? Whose side are you on? What do you think about RHOP as a overall do you want a 2nd season?
