While the world was shocked at Big Ang’s passing, the reality star was ready to say goodbye and was “at peace with death” during the final days of life her sister Janine Detoure reveals to Us Weekly.
The Mob Wives star was surrounded by her family and friends when she peacefully passed away at 3:01 a.m. on Thursday.
“She was so at peace with death. She was OK with it. She said she didn’t want to live being on the medicine, doing all that. She didn’t want to do that. And she said, ‘If it’s my time, it’s my time, just tell me. I want to spend my time with the grandchildren and with my family.’ She wanted to be home and all that.”
Big Ang was in the fight for her life as be bravely battled stage IV lung and brain cancer after initially being diagnosed with throat cancer last March.
Recently Big Ang had come down with a second bout of severe pneumonia causing her to be admitted to the hospital on Monday.
Despite Big Ang complaining she didn’t feel well no one was aware of how severe her condition was.
“Even when I called there on Tuesday, I said, ‘Put the phone by her ear, I want to tell her something,’” Janine recalled. “And I said, ‘You better be good! You better be good! … And she said to me, ‘I wanna come home.’ And those were the last words I heard.”
Big Ang did have a dying wish that she hoped would happen. According to TMZ there was a discotheque called Pastels in her old neighborhood that she just loved. She wanted all of her loved ones to gather there for a night of hard partying with the great that got everyone on the dance floor.
However, Pastels has been shut down for some time so this may not happen. Her family is doing everything they can to have the party there but they may have to choose another venue; the details are still up in the air.
Regardless of the venue, Big Ang is sure to go out with a bang!
Big Ang’s death is just so sad and shocking. It was hard to watch Wednesday’s episode of Mob Wives last night knowing Big Ang was no longer with us. Like most Mob Wives fans I’ll miss Big Ang’s vivacious spirit.
