Robyn Dixon is the newest housewife with a bankruptcy in the books and she isn’t afraid to come out and talk about it. She’s owning her past and moving forward with not just a new career in public relations, but a newfound fame as she settles into her real housewives role.
Robyn filed for bankruptcy back in September 2013 and in a brand new interview with OK! She reveals she is still mending her financial situation.
“I’m back on track. It’s not perfect. It’s not where I want it. We are still dealing with repercussions from everything that’s happened to us.” She hasn’t yet shared what she is referring to that “happened” to her.
Radaronline reported back in November that Robyn claimed she was more than $217,000 in debt, and earning less than $2,000 a month. Allegedly, she owed, “$149,813 to a mortgage company, $28,372 to Audi Financial services for her 2011 Volkswagon CC Lux, $16,577 to American Express, $10,871 to Discover, $2,680 to the I.R.S. for unpaid 2012 income tax and nearly $3,000 to Bloomingdales, among other debts.”
Robyn wants fans to know that she didn’t just “blow through” her money.
“When you hear someone has filed for bankruptcy, people picture people in the casinos just like throwing money in the air,” she explained. “No, that’s not what happened. There are clear reasons why we went through what we went through, and some things we could avoid. Some things we couldn’t.”
The single mother of two is now just trying to move forward and do right for the future. “So right now, it’s a building process,” she confessed. “You don’t recover overnight. But as long as you stay strong and positive, it will all work out eventually.”
Robyn is trying to remain as positive as possible through the hard times, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Very cliché, but having money when you are young and fresh out college, it honestly means nothing. You don’t learn real life until you’re actually kind of faced with some kind of struggle or hardship. I appreciate everything that I’ve gone through because I think it’s made me a more well-rounded person.”
Besides her new role on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Potomac franchise Robyn has a new career as a publicist and event manager at TAA PR in Washington, D.C.
“Our office is in D.C., but I am allowed to work from home, she shared. “I do go into the office on a weekly regular basis as well.”
“In the PR kind of world, you have more meetings out in the field with clients and at site visits,” Robyn explained. “So I have a very flexible job, which I appreciate as a mother with two kids. I want to be there for my children as well.”
