As with all of the Real Housewives franchise, casting discussions for the next season begin after the reunion is taped. With The Real Housewives of New York City completing their reunion for season seven just last week, rumors of season eight’s cast have begun.
As it was previously reported, Bethenny Frankel will be returning to the series full-time. While other sources say she will be taking a serious pay cut from the $1 million she made for season seven, Radar Online reports she will actually make more.
“Bethenny will probably want close to $2 million, while Bravo would offer no more than $1.5 million,” an insider said. “RHONY just isn’t as popular as the Real Housewives of Atlanta, and Bethenny just doesn’t have the clout she once did.”
According to the source, it was in Bethenny’s season seven contract that if Bravo offered her to come back for another season, she would accept.
“The fact is, Bethenny loves being on television,” the source added. “Producers are hoping next season Bethenny will let her guard down even more and fight with the other ladies.”
The source also explained who may not be returning next season, and one of them could be this season’s newbie, Dorinda Medley.
“Viewers just didn’t respond to her at all,” the source said. “Dorinda didn’t bring anything to the show. She was just boring!”
Dorinda might not be the only New York housewife getting cut. Kristen Taekman has, allegedly, been fired as well.
With season eight scheduled to begin shooting this fall, producers are now on the hunt for “two new sexy ladies that will add to the dynamic of the current group. They need to shake things up,” the source stated.
Do you believe that Dorinda and Kristen have been fired? Would you like to see them come back for another season?
