Tamra Judge has officially been a grandma aka Tam-ma for about a week, and she loves the new role. We’ve already reported that Tamra’s granddaughter is set to be featured on the Real Housewives of Orange County, but it seems like the new grandma can’t stop gushing over her little bundle of joy. In a recent interview, Tamra opened up about Ava’s birth, her newborn health struggles, and how it feels to be a grandma!
“My son has not stopped smiling since Ava was born,” Judge told the Real Mr. Housewife. “He had no idea the amount of emotions and love he was going to feel until she was born. Seeing Ryan cry while holding his first born is a vision I will never let go of.”
“I was not in the room when Ava was born,” since her daughter-in-law Sarah “had a c-section and only one person was allowed in.”
“Sarah had such a rocky pregnancy that seemed to last forever. At six months pregnant she was told that Ava had a condition called pelvic kidney.” Judge continued.
While baby Ava is overall healthy she did have some major health issues at birth Tamra explains. “Ava was born with only 1 functioning kidney. The doctors had detected it in a sonogram before she was born, and they confirmed at one day old. This is not something you want to hear as a new parent.”
Tamra isn’t just a grandma to baby Ava though, during the birth she says she became very close to her daughter-in-laws three other children. “I also became an ‘instagrammy’ to Sarah’s three daughters Ella, Emily, and Brooklyn. My heart is full of so much love, and I feel so blessed to have these girls in my life. My whole family is on cloud 9. My daughter Sophia loves calling them all ‘my nieces.’”
Baby Ava seems to have Tamra wrapped around her finger already as Tamra couldn’t stop gushing over the little princess. “She is the most alert and happy baby I’ve ever seen in my life. She is laughing and smiling at a week old. I might be biased, but I think she’s a genius!”
As for the Grandma title, Tamra will happily take her place with the other Glamma’s of the world. “I think there is a whole new generation of Glamma’s. Women over 40’s are really taking care of themselves these days. I workout hard and eat well to stay healthy. If the benefit of that is being a Hot Granny …I’ll take it!”
I’m so happy for Tamra and her family. New babies are always such a joy and bring so much happiness, and I think that’s exactly what their family needed.
