Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice has officially surrendered herself to prison at 3 a.m. today! Teresa is now serving her 15-month sentence for financial fraud at the Federal Correctional Insititution in Danbury, Conn. According to NJ.com, Teresa left her mansion shortly after midnight in a black SUV driven by her lawyer, James. J Leonard Jr. Teresa surrendered herself seven hours ahead of her scheduled in take.
In a statement, Teresa’s lawyer explains that she was ready saying, “Teresa is a very strong woman, she won’t have any problems in there. When we arrived at Danbury, everyone we encountered was extremely courteous and respectful.”
Following Teresa’s 15-month sentence, Joe Giudice will service 41 months in prison and possibly face deportation because he is not a citizen. And how exactly did Joe Giudice feel when his wife surrendered? Teresa’s lawyer who appeared on Good Morning America says that Joe was somber adding, “The enormity of this entire situation hit him.”
As for whether Teresa will get an early release. Leonard says that would solely be up to the judge and bureau of prisons. I’m glad that Teresa actually checked in earlier than expected so that she can avoid as much media as possible. Can’t imagine what’s going on in the Giudices’ mind right now but I hope Joe is pulling it together for the sake of his four daughters.
