Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa and Joe Giudice have a tough few days ahead of them. Teresa and Joe who admitted to hiding assets from bankruptcy creditors and submitting fake loan applications to get $5 million in mortgage loans set to get sentenced tomorrow and each could get some prison time while Joe Giudice may get deported back to Italy. The two are hoping that since both agreed to plead guilty Teresa Giudice will get probation.
Teresa’s crisis manager Wendy Feldman says Teresa and Joe are both very scared telling North Jersey, “They know a worst case, but don’t know what’s going to happen, and it’s terrifying and they’re scared.”
A criminal law professor named Stuart P. Green chimed in on what he predicts will happening saying he wouldn’t be very surprised if Teresa ends up with no prison time while Joe does a few years. Stuart explains,
“This is an example of a tied plea. It’s typically done with married couples where one is more culpable than the other. Even though it was non-violent conduct, it’s a serious fraud involving a significant amount of money with multiple counts including covering up false statements to the government. There was a time when white collar criminals would rarely see the inside of a prison, but the sentencing guidelines have been revised. White collar criminals today are routinely sentenced to significant prison time for serious frauds and other violations.”
I’m hoping more than anything that Teresa Giudice ends up with probation is able to be there for her four children that need her. What are your thoughts on what might happen tomorrow?
