Carole Radziwill and Russ Irwin had dated on and off for 3 years. Last year she discreetly cut things off with him and Russ speaks out as to why. He may have been running around with the likes of Aerosmith for nearly 20 years, beautiful women, groupies, fame, fortune the whole shebang. However, it looks like he was ready to drop that life to start one with Carole. But was she ready for the commitment? Radar shares what Russ Irwin had to say about their on again off again relationship.
“When I was with Carole, I truly loved her and wanted to be with her, but it got to a tipping point. We wanted different things. It was obvious it wasn’t going to last.”
We have always seen Carole as a laid back, chic, writer who goes with the flow and is fun and easy going. Turns out her whole easy peazy attitude may just be to keep herself from caring about things too much. Russ goes on saying,
“I told Carole, ‘I’m in love with you. I want to settle down, get married and have a family – and I want to do it with you.’ But her response was, ‘I never want to get married again.’ It’s sad because we had such a special bond. She wanted to date other people. She wanted her independence and didn’t want to be tied down to someone she had to check in with every day. She and I could have made it work, but I think she was really just afraid of being hurt again. Every time we got more intimate, she found a way to sabotage the relationship.”
Well I think we all know how Carole got through her breakup. Not only was Carole busy living it up as a ‘Housewife of New York’ on Bravo she was busy becoming an author! Russ admits he had to take on a similar outsource to release his energy and feelings out into…music!
“I suppose her catharsis was writing her book A Widow’s Guide to Sex and Dating. Mine was writing an album, in particular, the song ‘So Close to Heaven.’ The one lyric ‘I’d give up this song to get back to you,’ reflects how I felt about her. When you’re on the road, you sacrifice a family life for your career. So when I was with Carole, I truly loved her and wanted to start a family with her. I would have made sacrifices to be with her, but ultimately, it didn’t work out.”
I think that’s so sweet! ‘I’d give up this song to get back to you!’ A man who has been in music his whole life, and obviously it’s a huge part of who he is, and he is ready to set it aside and commit to Carole! You can see Carole had Russ mesmerized! However, I see how that could put some pressure on Carole,(I’ll give up my life of 17yrs on tour for you) but it still sounds like he loved her a whole lot! It doesn’t seem like they ended on bad terms. Russ shares,
“I support her and care about her very much. I wish her nothing but the best.”
Thoughts? Do you think Carole and Russ could have lasted if they got married?
