Real Housewives of Miami season three was officially announced this week as returning in August to Bravo! Some cast changes were made official which we had previously reported exclusive earlier this year.
One of these shake-ups was Marysol Patton taking a “friend” role on the new season, which was a bit of a shock given that Marysol and her mother were a big part of the RHOM franchise. Now, Marysol is addressing her new status on the new season.
Marysol reveals to Radar Online, “I’m not in the main title shot with the photos with the girls, but I film just as much as I did when I was a regular housewife.”
As for how much of her footage will end up airing, Marysol explains, “I guess it will come down to the editing.”
So why was Marysol downgraded? “Essentially, what I got is that we were too many housewives last year,” admits the PR maven. “I think that was a decision that Bravo thought was best for our franchise was to have less housewives so that there was more quality and the audience could get more involved with the ladies and their stories. It was too hard to do that when there was seven or eight of us.”
Marysol is confident in Bravo’s choice and has no hard feelings, agreeing that their cutting down of the main cast was smart so that viewers could connect more easily with the show.
Although it’s her first season as a “friend”, Marysol will continue to be on the show as long as she is wanted. “I enjoy myself and I enjoy the friendships that were made and the ladies that I’ve met. Today and where I am today, I could say maybe a few more years,” says Marysol.
I am not surprised Marysol’s role was shortened because as much as I like her, you could tell she was holding back a lot so as to not tarnish her reputation nor her business’s reputation!
Also, props to her for not playing the “I am pursuing other opportunities” card and just being upfront about the whole thing!
And one more thing: we better still get our share of Mama Elsa!
Are you surprised Marysol was reduced to a recurring role?
