Video: Karen Gravano On Good Day Chicago; Talks Mob Wives
Mob Wives star Karen Gravano stopped by Good Day Chicago Friday to discuss her new book “Mob Daughter.” Mob Wives have received tons of criticism from people who say it stereotypes Italians. Karen explains, “I think we’re representing ourselves. And I think that people have already put a stereotype on Italian-Americans. At the end of the day, we’re not trying to go out there and represent a city or a nationality of people, we’re just representing ourselves.” Karen adds that she wanted to be apart of the show to help illustrate the aftermath of a famiily member who’s been sentenced to prison and she knew her new book helps push that point. Karen is a good person. I think the problem is Ramona, so we should keep them separate. There wasn’t a problem with Karen season 1. I still don’t see a problem with her with the exception of Ramona fueling the fire and instigating many of the bad feelings between Karen and Drita.

In the interview Karen talks about wanting to show the ‘dark side’ on the show for so many of us ‘glorify’ the mafia…. However, from watching the show, especially this season & the last few episodes it appears that Karen is all to eagar to brag about her lifestyle in the past & also appears that she enjoys living in the past…….. JMO…..
I actually like Karen.. But, I will always be #TeamDrita.. My biggest issue with her is how she acts around Ramona… She should distance herself… Ramona is only bringin her down!
I agree with everyone else, Karen’s worst moments on the show have been her fights with Drita. And this season, the best scenes have been her comforting Rene.
On a side note, Karen is quite pretty.
I do not watch these shows maybe i will i hear all good things about it.I did want to ask isn’t Sammy the bull still alive and he refused police protection and is hiding on his own?

I really don’t think it’s Ramona starting all of it, I mean if you watch it over again it’s Drita that’s doing all the talking when someone mentions Drita’s name and things that she has said Ramona gets all worked up. Drita even said that she is getting in between her and Carla’s friendship, but when Carla and Ramona had dinner together Ramona even said herself she said when she came back she came back to a lot of Drita said and she also told Carla that she has nothing against her and that she likes her and that she respects the loyalty she has towards Drita, and she also said that her friendship with Drita is her friendship and it has nothing to do with her. Don’t get me wrong I like Drita and I actually loved her but, lately it seems the show is getting to her head and that it looks like she is actually really trying to act in it, and it also seems that she’s coaching her children on what say and that’s just sad and I’m unsure as to how Lee cheating on her should be such a surprise I mean she knew he cheated on Karen all the time and what makes her so different that he would stop doing it? Sorry but she’s not all that special and she has nobody to blame but herself for getting into that relationship with him she knew what he was about and why hasn’t she gone to see Renee when she was going through such a horrible time with JR and her father? It was Karen and Ramona going to check on Renee and making sure she was ok I haven’t seen Drita or Carla yet, or even calling her to see if she is ok it’s Drita and Carla going around just talking actions speak louder than words,
Agree with your whole take. I enjoyed Drita until it became the same line on putting people in the hospital over and over. Thee mouth turned me off. I also think saying she only married into this lifestyle and she can divorce it anytime shows her true Colors.
I agre, I liked her character very much until that. Over the weekend, a family member lent me Karen’s book, and I have to say it was pretty good and informative, a lot of things make some sense now. I have changed my mind about her and Drita rekindling a friendship, and I understand now what she really went through, as AJ probably is now. She is a tough cookie! Even though her Dad “snitched” , the book made it all clear.
I can also see why she is so loyal to Ramona, even though a lot of peeps on here do not. Karen really does have good heart- loyal to the end to those who were always loyal to her.
Teresa. I don’t know if you know how television works but,there is a thing called ” editing “. I’m sure all of that will be explained down the road concerning how she is handling the situation with Renee. Also,it does not take a genius to figure out who is fake and acting and I’ve been around the block a time or two and it is NOT Drita. The puppy love(as young teenagers was just that.Not a marriage much later that produced two beautiful little girls who appear to be very intelligent and have obviously been well parented by their mother. She has been open and honest ,age appropriate, about their fathers absence.She also has made sure they have kept in contact ,even doing homework on the phone, and Drita is giving her girls the option of going to visit their father.I am sure she will make the right decisions regarding what each child is capable of handling emotionally. Right now she is just trying to see what they can handle and considering the circumstances I think she is doing a fantastic job.Including, but not limited to ,letting the children still have their regular contact with him even when discovering his infidelities.You are making some very harsh judgments that to me are so totally naive. If you had ever been in the same situation you would see how wrong you are.I have to give it to Drita.I’ve been there done that and she is actually handling this extremely well.I have a lot of respect for Drita.You know the old saying ” Until you have walked in someone else’s shoes…..” Don’t judge so quickly.Keep watching.The truth eventually always comes out.

Exactly and now she’s trying to get into the dating game and failing horribly, you can’t go into bars and go around punching dudes how about trying to be a lady once in awhile it’s just sad really. I don’t feel bad for her I feel bad for her girls, I mean if you are trying to set an example for them then set the example even if they are not around to see you, cause if they ask you questions then you can actually feel good about yourself and the answer you give them. And stop running your mouth about other people and Carla needs to learn how to tell the whole story and not just what she thinks other people want to hear.
I would say that your sentiments about Drita’s children also should apply to all of them. Karen & Ramona act like hood-rats & wannabe gangsters, but that’s okay, rights? And why did Ramona drag her kids into her “boyfriends” jail situation..that’s her boyfriend, not their Father, he doesn’t support them! So if you want to throw accusations on who is an unfit Mother, then you need to throw that net really wide and throw it on all the others too!
As to Drita running her mouth…all I can say is: Ramona can’t seem to keep her shut either = PKB
Like I said before Ramon only brings it up if someone mentions it first, and it seems that there is more talking on Drita’s end I mean she wanted to talk about Ramona you could so tell in the last episode and it was killing her not too, only because of Renee, and when Drita’s daughter asked her about rats she could have mentioned the 4 legged fury kind but she didn’t so to me it comes across as her coaching her kids on what to say when the camera is rolling just saying that’s what I am seeing. And if she thinks she can’t trust a man again then she should just stay out of the dating game then if that’s the case instead of going to all these clubs and making strange men pay for what Lee did to her. there is no need to go around punching these guys around for no reason that’s abuse regardless if it’s a man or a woman doing the hitting abuse is abuse
She has already,unlike any of the others,expressed a desire in more ways than one to work on herself as far as anger goes.She even went so far as to go to a gym and try to work out some of these issues ,she has mentioned anger management and that she wants to change.Admitting that on television is a big deal and is actually being painfully honest.Especially when from what I saw she was the one that was “attacked” on more than one level first ,and this is the way you have been accustomed to and grew up in, to handle aggresive and disrespectful behavior from others.I personally have seen a change and a large effort on her part to remove herself from planned verbal and physical attacks(hence the deck episode). Children are a lot smarter than we give them credit for being.I do not for one minute believe “A furry little 4-legged creature” would have been an acceptable explaination. Personally,I still think she is in love with the father of her girls and hopefully she will find love again.It just may not be time yet.

I thought the same thing in season one with the rat chat!! And why, all of the sudden now get therapy on TV? Apparently, this has been part of her character since she was what? In kindergarten? To each their own…It so easy for fans to blame Ramona, but there were problems and issues before she came on. Karen is not by herself, just like Drita has Carla, so whats the big deal? They all talk smack, some more than others, and there is more then 1 pot stirrer.

Thank you, it’s exactly what I am trying to say, even though karen and ramona have issues with drita they have not been talking too much about her because they have been concerned for renee for quit sometime now and were trying to keep an eye on her and constantly checking in with her and that’s what a friend does they don’t give to hoots about who is saying what they see a friend in need and they pull together, the other 2 on the other hand well they have not really seen or talked to renee they have just been going around talking flapping their lips that’s all they have been doing and it kind of looks like big ang it getting tired of it too, she’s been trying to keep tabs on renee as well god bless them for being there for her, at least renee knows who she can really count on that’s for sure, and like I said before ACTIONS speak louder than words
Teresa- your welcome, and yes it appears as some others are trying to worry less about petty drama and do what they feel is more important right now( as far as what we see on tv anyway!) I don’t know about you but I said before I would love to know the real reason that Drita has so much angst toward Ramona when they used to be friendly with one another before this season, and Drita was like bff’s with Ramona’s sister! At least Karen realized with Carla not to take her issues with Drita out on her, and they appear to have fun together!
Yea that is interesting, maybe when she got wind that she was going to be on the show she may freaked out, maybe she felt threatened about having more camera time than drita, and they were friends I can’t remember what website is was but I did see photos of drita and ramona together smiling and posing it up for the camera. And it was said that ramona begged to be on the show, which doesn’t make sense cause she and the graziano’s are super close and she is super close to Karen as well so it just doesn’t make sense to have to beg I mean Ramona already explained why she wasn’t on the first season cause she had legal issues. Also Ramona said she used to take Drita’s daughter out all the time and now suddenly she stops talking to her before they started shooting for the new season it’s all very interesting it seems drita’s behaving rather defensive so it just makes me wonder who is the actual liar just sayin
I agree, makes ya wonder! I saw those photos too and saw interview that noted the two hung out, took pics, and Ramona also took Drita’s daughter to the movies! Ugh, becoming so draining! She did not beg- Jenn already talked about that! She was supposed to be on first season, but legal issues held her up. She was always in the background Jenn noted, as did Ramona. They were all tight friends since they were kids- Jenn Ramona, and 2 others were there to comfort Karen when her Dad flipped.
Yea and Drita is always accusing Ramona of lying but it’s starting to look like she’s the one lying with the pictures out there showing that they were friends and it also looks like that Drita is the one in Ramona’s garbage she’s the one that’s doing all the talking Ramona and Karen are too busy with Renee right now to give a shit about what is being said or what is going on and good for them it show’s real character on their part for sure
