RHONY Recap: Season 5 Reunion, Part 2

The second and final part of Real Housewives of New York season five reunion kicked off with Luann squirming her way out of the scandal she found herself in this season – whether or not she shagged the pirate from St. Barts, Tomas. Andy asks Luann if she’s still with Jacques and she says they are still together because he trusts her and she has since explained herself regarding Tomas.

Luann continues to stick by her story that she was with Italian friends that fateful night, but that she failed to mention that Tomas brought her home because the girls would “make a mountain out of a mole hill”. Luann says she just got a ride from Tomas and that was it, nothing happened. Sure you got a ride from him alright.

Andy sticks it to Luann and confronts her about lying and keeping the truth from everyone thinking she would pull a fast one on the girls. Ramona says Luann loves her men and can’t keep her hands off of them. This ticks Luann off and then Ramona insinuates that Luann and Jacques have an open relationship. Luann refuses to go there, because it will hurt her and hurt Jacques, as well as her kids. Carole calls Luann out on saying she wants to protect her children yet brings home the pirate. They end this topic with “the truth sets you free”, except I still think Luann banged the pirate and will continue to lie about it.

The discussion continues on sex, so Sonja and her spicy self become the focus first! Andy asks Sonja about whether or not she likes anal sex because of the St. Barts joke that she had done it with Tomas. They play coy and divert from the question. Andy asks Sonja and Ramona if they ever have lesbian encounters and they tell us there is just sisterly love and nothing else.

Next, we see a disturbing film package of Aviva’s sex-crazed senior citizen dad George. Andy asks if the ladies think George is inappropriate and all ladies, including Aviva, raise their hand. Aviva is asked about her dad and she defends that he is a great dad with a kind heart in spite of his dirty inappropriateness. She says it’s different in comparison to Ramona and Sonja’s “inappropriateness” because with them it was about how they treated her. Aviva then denies George poking Sonja in the back with his erection. I can’t believe I am watching this and I feel like I may vomit at this point! Enough of this atrocity.

TOASTERGATE! The infamous toaster oven that doesn’t even exist yet comes back for more. Andy shows a package of Heather working with Sonja on forming her brand and the way it ended for them, which was not a great note. Sonja is still unhappy with Heather and she pulls out from the couch, logos that fans had sent her in for her oven collection! Heather defends herself and says that Sonja ultimately chose what she liked and I agree with Heather here. Why is Sonja being so unappreciative towards Heather?

Heather is pissed and tells Sonja she wouldn’t “know hard work if it bit her in the ass”. Sonja tried to make Heather look uneducated about branding and she failed. Heather is successful with her brand so clearly she knows what she’s doing. Since the toaster oven is NOWHERE to be seen, I think Sonja is the one who needs some more of Heather’s help. Here’s to maybe, hopefully seeing this mystery toaster oven someday!

Sonja’s personal woes and her struggles this season come up next. Sonja reveals that she will be selling her house and is working to get her bankruptcy and finances in order. Sonja does not feel that she is on a downward spiral, and feels that Aviva’s claims that she is the next Anna Nicole Smith were just out of anger which Aviva confirms. Things get very emotional when Sonja reveals her dog of 18 years Millou passed away this past year. She still would love to have a family and be married again, but other than that Sonja says she is in a good place right now.

The spotlight is placed on Aviva and Ramona’s relationship which started promising but took a crazy turn by the end of the season. Ramona says Aviva has a lot of issues and has displaced anger. Aviva says she started to feel differently about Ramona in Miami, and then felt sabotaged at St. Barts. The two ladies get into it about George getting kicked out of Ramona’s domestic abuse charity party.

Andy reads off all the names Aviva called Ramona and Aviva’s claims of Ramonja’s alcoholism come up. Aviva reveals that she is sensitive to that because her mom passed away of alcoholism. It brings more light as to why Aviva acts the way she did towards the ladies. Was it right? No, but at least we know why Aviva is how she is.

Andy asks the ladies if there is any resolution after having everyone say their peace. Ramona understands Aviva and she will let it digest and see where things go with that. It was a very flat ending to the reunion, only fitting for a mostly flat season altogether. Ramona even got up and walked off in the middle of wrapping up because she didn’t know if it was over or not.
