RHONJ Season 4 Reunion Currently Taping Today!
For those of you who don’t know, The Real Housewives of New Jersey season 4 reunion is currently taping as I type this! That means Kathy, Caroline, Jacqueline, Teresa and Melissa are all in the same room probably at each others throats!
My insider tells me that Joe Gorga, Chris Laurita, Rich Wakile and Joe Giudice are all in attendance and will be taking the floor! This will be the first time Joe Gorga see’s his sister Teresa Giudice in over a year! Teresa hasn’t seen Kathy since last year as well and Teresa briefly saw Melissa Gorga at Gia’s birthday this past January but it didn’t go so well!
Andy Cohen tweeted the photo below and wrote, “This is me thinking “OMFG THIS REUNION IS EPIC!!! #RHONJ.” And boy is he right! This is probably the most anticipated Real Housewives reunion EVER! This is probably the only time I wish I was a bug so I could hang out in there and hear exactly what’s going on!

The heart, Woody Allen said, wants what it wants. For the producers of the ABC reality show The Dating Experiment, that was a problem. The heart of one of their female participants did not want what they needed it to want. She disliked one of her suitors, but it would make a better story if she liked him. So they sat her down for an interview. Who’s your favorite celebrity? they asked. She replied that she really loved Adam Sandler. Later, in the editing room, they spliced out Sandler’s name and dropped in audio of her saying the male contestant’s name.
That’s love, reality-style. This trick, says Todd Sharp, who was a program consultant on the series, is called Frankenbiting. And it happens more often than you may suspect. Frankenbites, he says, are the work of “desperate people who had to deliver a story in a few days”–producers under pressure to deliver a tidy story that’s zippier than real reality.
Granted, in the pantheon of shocking headlines, REALITY SHOWS MANIPULATED ranks with PORK RINDS FATTENING, RESEARCHERS SUSPECT. But even savvy viewers who realize that their favorite reality shows are cast, contrived and edited to be dramatic may have no idea how brazen the fudging can be. Quotes are manufactured, crushes and feuds constructed out of whole cloth, episodes planned in multiact “storyboards” before taping, scenes stitched together out of footage shot days apart.
And while we may have long suspected that a cast of camera-smitten future trivia answers can’t really be that interesting without professional help, details of how these shows manipulate reality have begun leaking out–because of a dispute with the employees hired to do the jiggering. Those staff members–who create story lines, coach interview answers and cobble together video–say their work amounts to writing, and they are suing their networks and production companies, arguing that they deserve to be covered by the Writers Guild of America.
Their employers call them story editors, segment producers and so forth and don’t recognize them as union employees. Those designations save money–Guild members have better pay, benefits and protections. But they also preserve an illusion: that the shows are authentic and true to life, free of anything close to “writing.”
It’s not that the shows have line-for-line scripts (although reality writers have charged that Paris Hilton was fed lines on The Simple Life). But Jeff Bartsch, a freelance reality-show editor, says there are many ways of using footage to shape a story. Bartsch worked on Blind Date, a syndicated dating show that features hookups gone right–and comically wrong. If a date was dull or lukewarm, the editors would juice the footage by running scenes out of order or out of context. To make it seem like a man was bored, they would cut from his date talking to a shot of him looking around and unresponsive–even though it was taken while she was in the restroom and he was alone. “You can really take something black and make it white,” Bartsch says. (NBC Universal Television, the studio that makes Blind Date, had no comment.)
I have heard of frankenbiting; I’ve always figured that’s what they did on the Bachelor/bachelorette shows. I would love for it to be the case here, but the amount of hate spewed out in magazines, blogs, twitter and facebook leads me to belive otherwise. I’m sure there is some manipulation going on, but I can’t think of anything other than Teresa that would have Caroline foaming at the mouth with anger.
I think its used with Joe Giudice the most. I think the fights are real buyt i have seen the evidence of it being used with Joe Giudice. I still think he’s an asshole, but i do believe bravo paints him worse than he actually is.
There has been evidence of Frankenbiting since Season one. The easiest way to spot it is if they are in a restaurant because all you have to do is watch the food on the table or even on the plate magically disappear and then reappear within the same scene – all while dialogue seems to flow naturally. It was used during the S1 finale (again watch the food/wine glasses). It was used during the Posche Fashion Show in S2 (in this case it’s just obvious from the way the shots are cut between the faces that Danielle and Ashley are allegedly making at each other with the tables on opposite sides of the room yet we never see them in the same camera shot looking at one another). There are also multiple examples of Frankenbiting throughout the series where dialogue sounds obviously altered that happens in a voice over of a TH interview so that we aren’t looking at a cast member’s face when the words are spoken – meaning that the viewer can’t see that the words don’t precisely match the lip movement.
So yes, the RH franchise very much utilizes this type of manipulation.

How was she attacked at the last reunion? Every thing that came out of her mouth was a lie and she got called out on it by Andy and everybody else, as she should have been. Did you expect them to just sit there and let her get away with it?
how wasn’t she attacked? when it’s 4 against 1 at a reunion. wait make that 5 against one because andy was attacking her as well. when all the questions was for her, about her and everyone yelling at her and especially caro foaming at the mouth at her and making up stories. that is attacking. that wasn’t a fair reunion. andy should’ve asked questions to everyone but instead his hatred for teresa showed. everyone should’ve been called out, not just teresa.

When Teresa is the only one out of four cast members (should have been five but someone didn’t have the spine to show up) being called out for bad behavior when they ALL exhibited bad behavior throughout the season, it is very much an attack, Samantha. Nearly every difficult question was directed pointedly at Teresa. Even if one was asked of another cast member, the answer was somehow redirected to include or to blame Teresa.
Plus, Andy is supposed to mediate the discussion and he allowed Caroline to practically take his index cards and run the show and SHE was the one who was spewing the most venom at Teresa, even speaking for other cast members who were in the room (not just Jacqueline who wasn’t there). Andy Cohen is lodged high up Caroline Manzo’s rear end because he is – for some reason – afraid of her so rather than put his foot down AS HER BOSS, he cowers in her presence. He does not do this at reunion shows for any other city in the franchise. As a result, he allowed that blood bath against Teresa to go on last year and fans are still furious about it.
I’m with you on this one. This better not be another Teresa basher. I will not continue to watch this for a third year. Bravo better have something new next year. Replace Melissa and Kathy. I am not watching a woman, her husband and children be degraded for a third year in a row. This Show Is Over if Bravo continues this path come season 5.

That is only half true. Yes, Jac and Caro are the only two remaining cast members that live in Franklin Lakes. But they all live in neighboring towns in Bergen County which is big money all around. Bergen is ranked among the 20 highest per capita income of all counties in the United States. Every town in Bergen County is nice. Teresa lives in Towaco. Melissa lives in Montville. Not sure what town Kathy lives in.
Kathy lives in Wayne which is not bergen county and the economic status is split down the middle.
I’m from bergen county. paramus to be exact and yes all the towns are nice but Franklin Lakes is the cream of the crop. And the rest of the castmates are minutes away. So get out a map of NJ Daisynay

OMG!! This is completely irritating me. There’s rumors going around twitter that Andy is not being fair and impartial. That instead he’s letting it be a bloodbath and letting the women attack Teresa just for the drama. If this is true and no one else is held accountable for their actions, I’m done. This entire season has just made me angry. I was watching some of the reruns of Season 1 and i miss that season. This show has gotten so dark and disgusting. They either need to do a complete recast or Teresa needs to walk away from this.

You would think though he realized how pissed the viewers are and change. It’s not gonna be a hit show anymore when everybody stops watching.
The thing is, Melissa, that for as angry as we get, I think this gives Andy/Bravo exactly what he wants. It gets people talking. When Bravo intentionally stirs the pot like this and creates all this drama, it gets a discussion going, it gives them attention. Their goal is not to give viewers what they want, it is to garner the highest ratings possible. To make themselves popular and successful. Even if we don’t watch an episode when it airs, Bravo will still get ratings if viewers watch it on a repeat, on their website, or on Hulu (they get this through the advertisements). Add to that the countless blogs, Tweets, Facebook pages, and talk shows that mention RHONJ and the popularity of this show is endless. The fact that we are mad as hell MAKES it more popular and successful.
Andy doesn’t give a crap what our opinion is as long as we have an opinion because it means that in some way, we are paying attention. And THAT is what he wants.
LOL…what we SHOULD do is create an underground network of RHONJ discussion groups that meet locally so we don’t have to talk about it online. Then AC/Bravo can’t see what we are doing. Have one person DVR the episode so the ratings don’t go up from scores of people watching every week, then that person brings it to the meeting where everyone can watch and discuss. We could bring refreshments. LOL…I’m joking. But that would hit Andy in his designer pockets AND it would make a point. And it would be fun

apparently caro’s sons and joe guidice got into a fight with a drunk violent patron at the hard rock cafe in punta cana. supposedly it was teresa’s fault because she spilled champagne on the guys wife and he punched her and that is when crap hit the fan. everyone got arrested.
I’m not sure about joe guidice involved in the fight. He wasn’t arrested makes me think he wasn’t involved. Also I read that the Manzo boys got into it with those people after Teresa left and the initial problem was settled. Tre spilled it by accident – all was calm – then it erupted into a fight so bad the cops were called.

I have to admit watching last season and the beginning of this season, I was absolutely not a Tre fan. But as the season went I started to see the bigger picture of what was going on.
I do like Melissa and Joe, and I would love to see them, Tre, and her hubby Joe all make up and be a family again. Watching them on vacation and seeing how they were getting along was really fun to watch. But in order to become a family her brother Joe and Mel needs to quit being fake and act like they care when the cameras are rolling but as soon as the camera’s go off they want nothing to do with her. I hope she calls them out on that. Just because your blood doesn’t mean your family, which is sad, but true.
I hope Andy doesn’t let them attack her like last year, she has done nothing to them this season to be attacked. It’s not her fault if all of them hold grudges,and can’t get over something that happened what two years ago? they need to get there big girl/boy panties on and ACT like adults!

I watched the Season 1 marathon and reunion yesterday too…. Amazing to watch now, all the ‘clues’ were there about Chuckie and Co. And I have to honestly say, Teresa has not changed and is still the same (Except for having to be in defend mode constantly).
I thought it was telling in one episode Dina said how there were 11 kids and there were always family members at any given time not speaking, but push to shove they always have their back- typical italian family (her words).
How Lauren was 2 yrs out of school and NO JOB and no ambition (chuckie’s words about she just wants to be a wife and until then she has to do something)- pushed to go to cosmetology and told by chuckie she wants her to have her own salon

A question for all of you who knows all on New Jersey…I watched the first couple of episodes of the first season yesterday. The season opens with the mention of an argument between Dina and Danielle that happened off camera. What was that argument about? Does the viewer ever find out what it was about on camera?
Also, when Danielle states that she knows “way too much” about Dina, what is she referring to?
Lastly, Teresa looks way better with boobs. I had forgotten that she was flat as a pancake.
The argument bet Dina and danielle (I think) had to do with a dinner or night out that danielle wasn’t invited to and then made a big deal it of it . I’m sure others here member that part better.
Danielle was referring to any nber of thins re Dina – 1) that Dina forged her ex-husbands signature on the release form for her daughter to appear on the show. 2) that dans husbands father was a mobster. 3) that Dinas husband was rumored to e gay or having an affair. Lol.

I don’t see where this show can go from this point with this cast. They haven’t spoken for a year and it appears none of them are interested in talking to each other. So, there’s no show going forward. Frankly, I am not interested in the reunion for the same reason. There’s really nothing for them to discuss. They have all (except Teresa) made themselves clear about their opinions in any media that would have them (twitter, blogs, etc.). They either have to get rid of Teresa or the lot of others. I don’t think the viewers have much more stomach for the bile of Caro the Clown, so she and her suckling spawn should be gone in either case. Jac now has a new child-burden story line (her only kind), so I think Bravo may want to capitalize on that. I, for one, will not tune in to see dueling factions- T and new friends v. the hangers-on. Where can this show go from here?

I, personally, couldn’t care less about the cookbook, although in light of preceding events (PC) it was a thoroughly STUPID AND THOUGHTLESS thing to do.
As far as what we have seen on TV is concerned, you could start with Teresa trying to destroy her brother’s marriage in the most underhanded, manipulative and demented manner I’ve ever seen. For her to claim she gives a shit about “family” after doing such a thing is beyond me. Let’s face it, Teresa HATES her family.
Then there’s not only her selling stories to but outright lying to the tabloids about her friends and family. For money. And then to add insult to injury, accusing THEM of doing the lying themselves.
And then there’s what an egregiously, insanely horrible mother she is — teaching her daughters to call her relatives vile names when on camera, exhibiting her daughter’s adolescence for mass consumption, coaching them to tell outright lies, etc. Another almost endless list.
But the truth is, you don’t even NEED to have this explained to you. Just watch the show. What a horrible and disgusting person Teresa is has been the SUBJECT of this entire season. It’s all right there!
And fwiw repeatedly asking “BUT WHAT DID SHE DO???” and being ignored doesn’t necessarily mean that we all FORGOT what she did. If that’s the effect you’re going for lol.
Oh! And how about the time she kept grabbing Kathy’s face and jerking it backward? She should’ve been punched right in her overly greased-up mouth for that.
Or the time she ran to Dina for the sole purpose of stirring up even MORE trouble for Caroline and Jacqueline’s family? (She and Dina are NOT close friends — they hadn’t seen or spoken to each other in months.)
Or that she tried to steal the spotlight from Caroline’s birthday by raping her unwilling goon of a husband within full view and hearing distance of the entire party? Including her brother?
And these are just off the top of my head! LOL!
Or that she continues to defend her dumbass, homophobic husband’s anti-gay slurs, in spite of the fact that some of his wife’s friends (well, fellow cast members now lol), family, and his WIFE’S BOSS are gay?
And how about how she repeatedly fed lies to her mother about Melissa, telling her that she was a gold digger and a whore.
(Don’t even bother — I believe Caroline. And I distinctly recall Teresa phoning her mother and speaking to her, IN ENGLISH, about her luggage being lost.)
And finally (for the time being, anyway), how about that she admitted to wanting Jacqueline to “Go After” Melissa? In Jacq’s words, “Had I gone after her the way you wanted me to, she would hate me now.” Don’t you wonder what she meant by that?

Teresa did’t llie in the stories Slowjoe does not call her, he and Melissa siad he does not. Richie does talk about her and how she shops. All the other comments made the ladies were taken from the show. Teresa didn’t say them they did. If they don’t want their negative words or actions used they shouldn’t say or do them. Either way that is not Teresas fault or problem.
How about the story she put out about Joey (that she tried to blame on Jacq) that Joey had taken all of their parents’ money and left them homeless?
It was during that scene that she admitted to contributing nothing to the care of her parents (while her brother DOES), in spite of the fact that she’s now supposedly so “successful.”
how about drunk jac running to lynnhudson and giving her stories? i’ve also seen countless interviews of kathy, melissa and caro on radaronline and hollywood insider and all they did was talk about teresa. so it’s okay for them to go to press but not teresa??? that doesn’t seem fair now does it.

I have a two-pronged theory about these “two.”

My gut feeling is that Teresa has absolutely had it with the BS; this was shown, at least clearly to me, in the Napa hot tub/fight with Caroline episode. She had finally had it by the time that one was taped.
Fast forward a year later reliving last year through this new season, and I can see/feel her further completely done.

Friends don’t hold grudges or look for thins to be mad about.
A fair point. Teresa apologized. Caroline is free to decide that the apology was not sincere so she would not accept it. Ball’s then in her court. She could have ignored Teresa or treated her with civility. Instead,she became monomaniacal about all things Teresa. Instead of ignoring Teresa, evry time she was in her presence, Caroline was consumed with- who is Teresa talking to? What is she doing? Is she upset? Is she happy? ad nauseum. Caroline’s behavior is her responsibility. Instead of acting like a civilized adult, she acted like the banshee she is- constantly talking about Teresa, calling her all kinds of names, predicting, with glee, the demise of T’s marriage. One does not have to view Teresa as a victim to conclude that Bozo was out of line and that Teresa did not deserve to be treated so poorly. And I will note that Teresa gave Bozo her space and did not engage in the same kind of treatment that she received from the clown.
I think most people do not like to observe the kind of behavior Caro engaged in. Of course, there are those on the internets who get giddy by such awful behavior, but I think that is a product of an immature emotional self or youth.

Read some posts over at SH. Someone who is from NJ and runs in same circles I think said that it is common knowledge in Caro’s hometown about Al and a woman named Jill. If it’s true, it will come out eventually. If there are stories out there about Al cheating, then Caro really has no business talking about Joe cheating on Teresa.

I saw someone say that “What has Teresa done? Remember the cookbook?” Yes, we remember. I also remember Caroline stating NUMEROUS times on the show and in interviews earlier in the season that the cookbook comment really wasn’t a big deal to her. If it was, why didn’t she explode on Teresa when Teresa apologized on Jac’s steps? Oh right, because it truly isn’t a big deal, and now that everyone has turned against Caroline, she’s coming out of the woodwork with a bunch of random things.
It sucks that because of the Bravo contracts we have to watch this “fake” fighting. The real story is much worse, they’re just contractually not allowed to discuss “being on the show” while filming the show.

I believe as many others do, that the real issue Caroline and her family have against Teresa is the Punta Cana incident.
Teresa was opening a bottle of champagne and it sprayed in a woman’s eyes. The woman’s son and another guy (believe one of the guys is a cop or security guard here in the States)
The guy alegedly punched Teresa and that’s when Chris and Albie and Teresa’s husband Joe got involved and beat the shit outta the two guys.
They are suing them and Bravo. Bravo and the cast can’t speak of it, because of the lawsuit. If you google it, you can get the whole story.
Caroline is mad at Teresa and blames it all on her. Her “boys” are grown men who decided to assault those guys. It isn’t the first time Albie and Chris got physical with someone. Remember in the season past how they kicked Kim G out of the party?
The Manzos and Lauritas got sued over stealing the BLK idea from another company. Lawsuit was settled, but now Jac and Chris are facing another lawsuit over Signature Apparel for which they alegedly took company money to fund their lavish lifestyle.
Bottom line is, they all have same financial troubles as Teresa but Teresa is the one making some money and becoming more marketable and popular and they can’t stand that.
I have read about that, but that story doesn’t add up to me. I think she hated Teresa prior to that, and therefore there would be no reason for HER family to step in, you know what I mean? Thanks for filling me in though!

I think it all boils down to – Teresa has found real success through steady effort. I think Caro is mad that Teresa has easily secured things by being herself, like a ton of fans (without buying them!), big sales of her cookbooks, did well on Celeb Apprentice, her easy and deep friendship with Dina and offers for her very own show. Caro would like all of these things either for herself and/or for her kids, but not sure it will ever happen.
Cat, I agree. I believe that Caro thought that T was too stupid to be successful and that she, the alleged example of all-knowing matriarch would be the most successful. Look at how she was with Dina. Never once has she plugged her sister’s show on twitter, yet the minute she gets a book deal, Dina congratulates her. The family dynamic of this show has run its course. Heads need to roll. I almost wish Teresa did not turn down offers for her own show…I find her storyline and her immediate family more interesting than the others combined.
I totally agree. Teresa is human and not perfect but the focus has been only on her and not the others. It was brought out that the producers were too friendly with the Manzo-Laurita gang and that’s why they got the good edit, not to mention Andy loves Caroline and especially Joe Gorga. This is why many viewers are siding with Teresa. It is frustrating to see them being favored after seeing their bad behavior and hearing about their own legal issues.
Totally agree with that. I think the “tre-bashers” on this blog don’t get that. We don’t claim Tre is perfect, but we admire her work ethic to correct the situation and we do not like the bad edits she and juicy get because of the producers friendships with the others. Their constant negativity, rumors and innuendo against Tre has caused such a backlash that I believe that Caro’s pr team most certainly had to tell her to play nice in her blogs if she hoped to sell any of her products to Tre supporters. She probably calls us Tre’s “army” because we are legion and she can only dream of this kind of support.
